Very sad.

English fantasy author Terry Pratchett died Thursday after an ongoing battle with early onset Alzheimerā€™s disease. He was 66.

The author, who published more than 70 books, wrote a closing set of tweets that referenced his Discworld series. They were heartbreakingly final:

He was a much better writer than JK, imho.

How tragic to die so young, and to be aware of one's deteriorating mental state.

Terry handled it with grace, dignity, and humor.

The greatest British satirist since Swift, possibly Chaucer.

Sam Vines, Conan the 80 year old barbarian, and dozens of other memorable characters, including DEATH. Incredible tales. Marvelous wit and insight into the human character and its dilemma.

"Small Gods", what an incredible read with Brother Brutha.

What a loss.

Yeah. We lost an entire universe with him. Lord Vetinari once said that if there was any such thing as a supreme being, then it is the responsibility of each of us to be its moral superior. If anyone achieved that, it was Terry Pratchett. Gonna miss him.

Terry Pratchett held up a mirror to society and showed us that inside we are all the same.

"There is no justice, just us."

His insight and humor are immortalized in his books.

Give Binky's nose a rub for us, Terry.
