Romney Refuses To Apologize For Condemning Dead Americans

If Romney was so wrong, why did the administration distance itself from the original apology?

Because truthseeker lives in her own little world, and rarely respondes coherently to other posters.

I'm outraged by the attacks on American diplomatic missions in Libya and Egypt and by the death of an American consulate worker in Benghazi. It's disgraceful that the Obama Administration's first response was not to condemn attacks on our diplomatic missions, but to sympathize with those who waged the attacks.

That quote in no way suggests that the Americans in the Consulate were terrorist sympathizers. It quite clearly shows that the Obama administration had no clue as to why the attack occurred in spite of the warning from the Zawahiri video.

However, your completely skewed interpretation of it is very instructive to a new participant. You have no idea what you're ranting about, do you?

At the time of the statement Obama administration had not made a comment. The American Hostages made a statement fearing for their lives. surely you're not suggesting Romney only thinks it was a statement sympathizing with terrorists if Obama said the statement?

Obama is utterly collapsing. His incompetence is placing this nation in severe danger.

Mr. Obama, do the right thing and resign NOW. Allow someone with at least some level of competence to lead this nation, since you cannot.

If Romney was so wrong, why did the administration distance itself from the original apology?

It was wrong because Obama Administration did not put out that statement and it was wrong because he din't know the facts before he condemned a statement by the officials in the Embassy that were fearing for their lives.

The embassy speaks for the administration. At the very least, this contingency should have had a plan and training as to what to do if an embassy in a war zone comes under attack. That plan does not, nor should it, include the proper way to beg.

The mob started forming some hours before the actual attack. The ambassador had enough time to evacuate the Embassy. Enough time to notify the state department and the presidebt that the situation was volatile. Then what? No one returned the ambassador's call? She was hung out to dry with her unarmed marines.

What should have happened? obama should have immediately got on the phone to Morsi, told him to send in the army to stop the DEVELOPING mob, or Egypt would never see another dime of American money. Had there not been permission for Cairo to develop into a riot but swift and unequivocal action instead, there might not have been a riot in Libya resulting in four deaths. If we had an interested president instead of lackluster and weak presidebt, all of our embassies throughout the middle east would have been evacuated with warnings that all funds for whatever purpose was ended immediately if there was any violence. And these hostile governments told that if there was any kind of attack, every visa issued to one of their nationals in this country would be revoked without further notice and every national, whether in school, business or hospital would be deported.

Instead we have spreading attacks and a growing crisis.

I can't do a thing about Obama and neither can you.

But we can be far more careful while trying to win this election.

Romney was wrong, period, and apparently is doing everything possible to satisfy our American extremists and lose this election.,

So where in any of what anyone has said are Americans in the Consulate called terrorist sympathisers?

Yesterday we noted that Mitt Romney, down in the polls after the convention, was throwing the kitchen sink at President Obama. Little did we know the kitchen sink would include -- on the anniversary of 9/11 -- one of the most over-the-top and (it turns out) incorrect attacks of the general-election campaign . Last night after 10:00 pm ET, Romney released a statement on the attacks on the U.S. embassies in Egypt and Libya. After saying he was “outraged” by these attacks and the death of an American consulate worker, Romney said, “It's disgraceful that the Obama administration's first response was not to condemn attacks on our diplomatic missions, but to sympathize with those who waged the attacks.” Yet after learning every piece of new information about those attacks, the Romney statement looks worse and worse -- and simply off-key. First, Romney was referring to a statement that the U.S. embassy in Egypt issued condemning the “efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims.” But that embassy statement, which the White House has distanced itself from, was in reference to an anti-Islam movie and anti-Islam pastor Terry Jones, and it came out BEFORE the embassy attacks began. Then this morning, we learned that the U.S. ambassador to Libya, Chris Stevens, and others died in one of the attacks

Just saw where Romney is refusing to apologize for his politically motivated statement that the Americans in the Embassy, fearing for their lives, were terrorist sympathizers.

What a pompous self righteous ass Romney is...

It is shameful that Romney would use the death of a U.S. Ambassador as an opportunity to lambast the speech of that very same U.S. Ambassador!

What the fuck are you babbling about?

Romney criticized that simpering fool Obama for apologizing to the terrorists.

The first apology was put out through the Egyptian, not Libyan, Embassy.

Mr. Obama, do the honorable thing and resign.

CANNONSBURG, Pa., Sept. 6 -- Sen. John F. Kerry, under pressure from Democratic leaders to draw sharper contrasts between himself and George W. Bush, launched a series of blistering attacks on the president Monday, saying the W in his opponent's name stands for "wrong . . . wrong choices, wrong priorities, wrong direction for our country."

What ROmney is essentially saying is that its disgraceful for a diplomatic mission to be diplomatic.

The embassy that made the statement apologizing was in Cairo.

The assassinated ambassador was in Libya.
