Ron DeSantis 'Will Destroy Our Democracy,' Says Fascism Expert

Laughing...it didn't take much to run you off, now did it? All I had to do was ask you to actually read the 1st amendment......and you flee. Since you've starkly refused to look at the bill of rights, lets see if the other simple questions send you running.

How is boycotting your ilk when they say or do stupid shit a crisis of democracy?

How is using the power of the State to punish those that criticize conservatives 'restoring democracy'?
No... it's not a matter of "running"... it's a matter of still working for a living and getting ready to leave for the day...

I just dropped-by long enough to leave my opinion on the subject, and it's clear that you disagree... which is fine... it's to be expected...

As to the Constitution... it can be interpreted in a variety of ways... which is why we have a Supreme Court... to interpret those fine legal distinctions...

And a very valid argument can be made that both the Constitution itself and subsequent statute have been misused in advancing Woke-ism over time...

You won't agree with that either, and that, too, is fine, and to be expected...

Irreconcilable differences...

En garde...

See you on the barricades (the polling place)... :itsok:

From private platforms. DeSantis is using the power of the state to PUNISH those that criticize conservatives.

The agents of the U.S. government, which is primarily Democrat, colluded with private platforms to silence conservative speech. That is a violation of the First Amendment.

And explain to me exactly what DeSantis is doing that is wrong. are you talking about eliminating the special carve-out for Disney? Why should a woke company, especially one promoting racial division, get any special carve-outs?

The Supreme court has never applied the Bill of Rights to individuals.

"Congress shall create no law....."

Not 'Disney'. Not 'Twitter'. Not private individuals. But Congress. With the 14th amendment extending those privileges and immunities to limit the States.

Individuals refusing to associate with individuals is not a crisis of democracy.

But using the power of the State to punish those who criticize conservatives? That's a problem.

Using the power of the State to punish Disney for using its free speech to criticize DeSantis? Oh, that's very problematic. And demonstrates what conservatives ACTUALLY believe about free speech.

DeSantis held a special sessions of the legislature to turn over the Reedy Creek board to his appointees. Including the head of a ministry. That's right.......Disney now has to answer to an Evangelical church, or be punished. If Disney says something that the church doesn't like.....their free speech can be punished.

If Disney were to criticize DeSantis or oppose conservative policies, the board can punish Disney by borrowing money.....that Disney is responsible for repaying. Or deny needed infrastructure projects. Or deny garbage service. Or deny any construction projects. Or build a new highway right through Disney world.

And it goes farther than that. If Disney were to release a movie that DeSantis or the Evangelical Ministry didn't like......Disney could again be punished. Its parks could be damaged. Its tax rates increased. Its vital services withheld. Or a 'highway' could be built to threatened the company's holdings in FL.

This is the conservative vision of 'free speech'. With a financial gun held to your head by the State, where any dissent, any criticism, anything but obedience to the the conservative agenda.....is punished with the power of the State.

DeSantis is a scary scary man. He really does remind me of Mussolini in many ways. He hates opposing opinions.

1) The FBI is not allowed to direct private companies to silence speech, which they did.

2) Again, how is DeSantis silencing speech? Democrats supported silencing conservative views under the guise they were “disinformation” or harmful to America. You don’t object to silencing then? What has changed?

Hyoocrites, the lot of you.

Sounds like you’re reading some propagandized version of the story from Vox or Slate. Provide a link.

Actually, Governor DeSantis stripped Disney of extra-ordinary rights to set up their own political entity that no other corporation in Florida enjoys and that they should never have been given in the first place.

The first rule of any human interaction is that if you're dependent on someone, you shouldn't try to screw them over ...

Can barely believe that the moonbats are trying to argue that Disney has a right to their special corporate carve-out.

They've turned into everything that they claimed to hate a mere couple decades ago.

I didn't use the word 'republican' in that post. I used the words 'incumbent party'.

The rest of your post is meaningless wordsalad.
Then you did complete by entire post.Bravo ... Herr poster
of less than ill repute.I guess you dint become too sickened by
rational thinking.Yet you appear to have been relegated to the
old democrat standard of some mindful circadian rhythm.
Never back down, always make the other guy seem dumber
than what you write, think and deploy. No matter Vhat!

1) The FBI is not allowed to direct private companies to silence speech, which they did.

The FBI ordered no one to do anything. They made requests. Requests that these companies frequently rejected.

Compare that with DeSantis punishing Disney for criticizing him, and placing Disney under a board of his choosing, including the head of an Evangelical Christian Ministry.

Now, if Disney says anything that DeSantis doesn't like, or that offends that Evangelical Church........Disney can be punished. Construction projects can be cancelled. Money can be borrowed that Disney is responsible for repaying. Garbage services can be cut. Vital infrastructure can be denied. A new highway can be built through DisneyWorld.

If Disney releases a MOVIE that DeSantis doesn't like, or that offends that Evangelical Church.....Disney can be punished.

This is the most perfect expression of the conservative vision of 'free speech'. And conservative cheer at every new punishment, every new restriction, every new government appointed overseer to Disney's free speech

Much ado about nothing, in the broader sense... Go DeSantis... :auiqs.jpg:

Of course. To a conservative, using the power of the State to punish those who criticize conservatives makes perfect sense.

But it does elegantly demonstrate that 'free speech' was never actually a conservative value.

The GOP doesnt agree with democracy. They proved that when they tried to overturn a fair election.
They will cheer Desantis as he locks up librarians and journalists and publishers.

I doubt DeSantis would have gone there if not for the absurd
way Disney transformed into something that would have
made Walt Disney so sick to his stomach he would have gladly
given up his smoking habit { his only real vice besides working
non-stop to Make America Great Like he did with his Disneyland }.

Disney -nor any other corporation- has no special right to any special corporate carve-out from The State in any case

Since when did you moonbats become the buttbois of immense corporations?
