My 2 cents... I live in the midwest. And in a larger town. We have a significant meth problem here. Getting close to an epidemic. Thus many other crimes are on the rise fast.
At the same time however, home break-ins have not rose. You would certainly think so. And the reason for that is that I would wager that a good 70% of homes in this area have a gun. That is a MASSIVE deterrent.
If guns would disappear over several years under such a law. I absolutely guarantee home break ins would rise significantly. And thus, the many other crimes associated with break ins would also rise.

I live in a nice home, in a pretty decent neighborhood, But a mile down the road in two directions are no so good areas, downright shitty areas.
At night it is very common to see miscreants walking down the sidewalks going towards these places. Even late at night on weekdays. While my family is asleep, literally within 30 yards of us are criminals walking around. I say...the reason they do not break the boundaries and break into homes in this area, which happens VERY seldom is because this is the midwest. Where gun ownership is very high. That is a MASSIVE deterrent as I stated earlier. If however, there were few guns in this area...I damn sure guarantee there would be a lot more break-ins.
