Sequestration: Blame goes to GOP

Responsibility. Just another character trait lacking in Republicans.

Look, say we kept America safe or we had to do something. Don't just say, "Wasn't me."

Gotta love when Democrats talk about spending and "responsibility". They look rather foolish defending that argument when this administration can't even pass a simple budget.

Gotta love right wing trolls talking about what they supposedly know...like the Executive passing bills and budgets

It must hurt liberals, when facts have a habit of coming around and biting you in the ass.

President Obama missed the Monday deadline for submitting a budget to Congress, marking the fourth time in five years he has been late — and in a town where missing deadlines is routine, this one is beginning to get noticed.

The sequester cuts will start...

we shall see. Imagine if there was no pain? First it was the President and now it is the GOP running around assigning blame :laugh2: so who would win? Obama is more popular and was elected by a national majority. Hmmmmmmmmmm...

And bush unlike Obama won by more his second term than first, so what?

You must be getting nervous, now it's the PRESIDENT and GOP

Obama did have to go to court to win. His victories were decisive, except on right wing media. Any blame will hurt the GOP more than the President. Obama is NOT running for reelection. He is bucking trends of Presidents of recent memory

"Decisive" ... Right I guess you're smart enough not to go anywhere near the word landslide right?

Running on empty bro, you should take a few days off, rest, relax, thorazine regimen......Just trying to help out a friend see you:cool:

If the sequester is the GOP's baby, why would Obama threaten to Veto anything to stop it?

because nothing is as simple as your talking points would have you believe?
Talking points?
How so?

Obama didn't threaten to Veto anything that would interfere with the automatic spending cuts? Or was that just the campaign talking?
The offer from the GOP was a political ploy. stop regurgitating talking points

Obama got the same percentage of the vote that Reagan did in 1980, but with a much larger percentage of turnout. Yet today most everyone repeats the idiocy that Reagan was popular in 1980 and won a landslide.

Reagan won an electoral landslide in 1980. He was not very popular at the time. So it is conservatives who see every win as a landslide with a broad mandate

Ploy or no....
It was all agreed to and everyone vowed to stand behind the automatic cuts if nothing of substance could be done.
So here we sit.
The sun still rose this morning and we don't have 170 million people being fired.

Obama played his own ploy. He tried to talk big and tell the country that he would not sit idly by and allow anyone to stop the triggers.

Whose ass got bit the hardest in this deal?

My opinion?
Nobody's.

2.4% lack of increased spending following a 2% payroll tax bump doesn't equal Obamgeddon in my book.

82 billion could be offset by merely stopping big bank subsidies or, simply, not borrow that much this month

Repubs offered to keep the same tax rates, then close loopholes that the very rich use. BO refused. So he got his marginal tax rate increase on over $400K.

He and his team came up with sequestration, and it didn't include any new revenue.

Now he's added the loopholes to it, moving the goal posts as Woodward said, and calling his own idea, sequestration, dumb and unnecessary. He also previously said he'd veto any attempt to revoke it.

He didn't meet with Repubs to work out a compromise, instead flying around the nation scaring folks -- and now says it won't be that bad.

Congress wanted to give him more latitude in directing the cuts, so they wouldn't affect important programs that he was telling everyone would end, or be greatly reduced, but he doesn't want that power. Apparently, he WANTS the cuts to hurt folks.

WTF is going on? Is BO mentally unstable? Insane? Evil?

Obviously, he has NO clue how to lead, and cares more about his big gov't/high tax agenda, than America, or the American people.

This is what happens when we elect a local union activist who never ran a business, let alone even have a job in the private sector, as POTUS.

There is always blame spread around. But the blame will be laid at the doorstep where it belongs: The GOP They brought this about in their desire to make Obama a one term President: In the summer of 2011, Obama and Congress were in a high-stakes stand-off over the debt limit. House Republicans insisted on spending cuts before increasing the debt limit. This was a notable change from the past, when members of Congress from both parties would pass debt ceiling increases with relatively little fuss. PolitiFact | PolitiFact's guide to sequestration

furthermore: President Obama signed the bill shortly after it was passed by the Senate. In doing so, the president said, "Is this the deal I would have preferred? No. But this compromise does make a serious down payment on the deficit reduction we need, and gives each party a strong incentive to get a balanced plan done before the end of the year. Budget Control Act of 2011 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

and:
Woodward summarizes the thoughts of the Obama team: "There would be no chance the Republicans would want to pull the trigger and allow the sequester to force massive cuts to Defense." Democrats, meanwhile, didn’t want to see their favorite domestic programs cut.

As the negotiations proceeded, Republicans seemed to think the same thing.

"Boehner told the House Republican leadership and other key members not to worry about the sequester … ‘Guys, this would be devastating to Defense,’ he said. ‘This would be devastating, from their perspective, on their domestic priorities. This is never going to happen,’" Woodward wrote.

If you'd been paying attention to the news, not KOS, OFA, and MSBNC, you'd know these things.

Yet you scrolled right past my suggestion of big bank subsidies which, btw, almost exactly equals the "needed" $83b
