Uh, no.
They did it out of necessity and when it was no longer necessary they pursued a free market.

Just curious...
Do you ever think using your brain?
Or do you only think with your middle finger?

There is nothing necessary about communism. Precisely the opposite was the case. The institution of private property was adopted to avoid starvation.

If I avoided thinking, then I would be a socialist moron like you.

First of all...yawn.

I would like to see you relocate all by yourself to an area filled with malaria ridden swamps and maybe enough food to last a week and see how well you do.

Pick a nice gravesite.

How does communism help in that situation?

Share The Wealth platform.

Far left governments with this philosophy has destroyed more countries than any terrorist group out there.

There's a difference between a Marxist state like Cuba and any of the first world social democratic states. political science would do some of you people a great deal of good within my opinion. What difference has to do with who controls the production...Marxist state production is overseen by the government,,,while social democratic state allows a private/public hybrid like system that most of the west uses...Regulating the private sector and allowing for a safety net is what makes us the social democratic state.

Your pure capitalism is amoral and has failed....

If the government regulates enough, the results are indistinguishable from what you call a "Marxist state." In reality, both are Marxist states.

I do NOT think it a good idea to cap wealth.

In fact its a very stupid idea.

Tax the crap out of it, if needed.

The whole POINT of capital formation is to have the resources necessary for the SOCIETY that created it.

CAPITAL formation is a good thing, folks.

If you "tax the crap out of wealth" then you are destroying capital formation. What do you imagine the wealthy do with their money, spend it all on fast cars and caviar?

"Share the wealth" = conservative talking point and staw man.

Straw man because no one advocated for "share" the wealth. You are creating a false and flimsy argument in order to tear it down.

This is what weaklings and the weak minded do, create straw men.

Try these on for size:

Level playing field.

Fair share.

A tax code that isn't rigged in favor of the super wealthy.

If you honestly believe the tax code isn't rigged to benefit the super wealthy, you are hopeless.

Uhmm... hello!!! Anyone in there?

The bottom half don't pay any federal personal income taxes. NONE The upper half pay all of the personal income taxes. Further, many in the bottom half actually receive payment for having not made enough money, as if being the worst workers in American somehow makes them worthy of a bonus check. Still Further the federal personal income tax rates are progressive, thus punishing anyone who desires to earn more labor than the demotards deem sufficient. And after all this effin progressive theft is applied you still have the nerve, nay balls, to say the tax code benefits the rich.

Even further, the demopublicans believe stealing peoples assets is a good public policy. They claim investments as the enemy not just labor and further attack investors by making them pay a double tax against profits earned from investments.

The democraps were fully in charge of both houses and the white house did WHAT? Why they continued the Bush Tax cuts that's what they did.

Troll

1) Everyone has the same rules, guidelines, freedoms, and path to opportunity
2) Fair is subjective.. you are not given, nor should you be given a share from government
3) The tax code is rigged toward those who pay lesser rates or no income tax at all... We can assume you are then for the no exception, no exemption, no ceiling, no floor flat tax on every dollar earned by every citizen?
4) The tax code is much too complex and benefits come in all sorts of areas (differing income being treated differently, people not taxed on some income at all, etc)... it is not just 'rigged toward the wealthy'

Apparently you think starving means it's working. They tried it until they decided they would rather eat than live according to some flea brained ideal.

Or do you only think with your middle finger?

No, they abandoned the idea because there were some who were leeching off the system.

Same challenge to you...
Move to a remote area with malaria ridden swamps with one week supplies and see if you survive.
I love how Conservatives come up with all of this fantasy tough talk.

I love how liberals think that free trade means everyone on an island fighting for themselves.

A free market maximizes opportunity and growth because there are no artificial restraints on voluntary trade.

ROFL only a libtard would move to a remote malaria ridden swamp with a week's worth of supplies.

Conservatives would pick a habitable location, replete with game and edible vegetation.

Wrong. Schemes like the one in the OP are the result of envy and idiocy.

Neither of which should be underestimated in times of desperation.

Idiocy is thinking income inequality can continue to grow for another 40+ years without consequences. I am sure you will blame the government because when you are a hammer every problem looks like a nail. Simple solutions for simple people.

If it can't continue to grow, then it will stop.

Seems pretty obvious to me.

The problem is the manner in which it stops. In the past a lot of people suffered and died. Lets hope people in power make better decisions this time.

HTH

You're conflicting the arrival with the initial communal compact.

The brain made from inbreeding on display.

The key planks of the Share The Wealth platform included:
No person would be allowed to accumulate a personal net worth of more than 300 times the average family fortune, which would limit personal assets to between $5 million and $8 million. A graduated capital levy tax would be assessed on all persons with a net worth exceeding $1 million.

Annual incomes would be limited to $1 million and inheritances would be capped at $5 million.

Every family was to be furnished with a homestead allowance of not less than one-third the average family wealth of the country. Every family was to be guaranteed an annual family income of at least $2,000 to $2,500, or not less than one-third of the average annual family income in the United States. Yearly income, however, cannot exceed more than 300 times the size of the average family income.

An old-age pension would be made available for all persons over 60.

To balance agricultural production, the government would preserve/store surplus goods, abolishing the practice of destroying surplus food and other necessities due to lack of purchasing power.

Veterans would be paid what they were owed (a pension and healthcare benefits).

Free education and training for all students to have equal opportunities in all schools, colleges, universities, and other institutions for training in the professions and vocations of life.

The raising of revenue and taxes for the support of this program was to come from the reduction of swollen fortunes from the top, as well as for the support of public works to give employment whenever there may be any slackening necessary in private enterprise.[2]

Man I wish Huey Long had not been assassinated. Wonder where the country would have been under him and not Roosevelt...might not have ever even entered ww2.

You first, bub. Let's see you and the supporters of the OP's naive and misinformed ideas set up a commune. How about calling it Starnesville?

"Share the grades platform" will work well in school....everyone gets a C or D.

"Share the food platform" should go over well at public places to eat...we will just cut up your pizza into 100 pieces for everyone present during your meal.

You are so galactically stupid it defies belief.

Liberals love money...other peoples.
Anytime you guys feel not enough money is going to taxes.Come tax time write a check to the IRS
for, let's be generous here...$1,000.

Indeed. It's pretty typical that the louder someone lobbies for spreading around the wealth of others, the less he actually practices true charity with his own funds.
