Opposing Authoritarian Ideological Fundamentalism.
I've seen Van Jones and others say it - should the party move Left?

Democrats Try To Find A Future Post-Obama With Fault Lines Along Economics, Race

From the piece:

"I want to guard against the Democratic Party, because they feel that they lost because white men and white women did not vote for Democrats," Onyeukwu said. "I want to make sure that we do not abandon minority demographics to go and pander back to white Americans."

Onyeukwu is concerned that identity politics has become increasingly taboo in some Democratic circles.

"As a party," he said, "you should be robust enough to have multiple conversations with multiple groups of people at the same time."

Hillary was too much of a moderate. Bernie, the Socialist really resonated with the base. So, clearly, the further Left they move, the better

One wonders what world most Americans live in when you read nonsense like most of the above. Democrats need to stay attached to representative democracy and not allow the failures of the republicans to become status quo. Republicans failed American democracy and have done so since money manages their very soul. An excellent piece below.

" But even that general conclusion is too fast. We will not actually know whether Trump’s election exhibits a failure of democracy until we see whether the institutions of court and congress function to prevent him from carrying out his anti-democratic impulses. We see a failure in our electorate, but institutions may yet save democracy. For example, if the Court rules against Trump’s proposed religious test for immigrants, and his proposal for a religious registry, and does not overturn (as he has proposed) the constitutional protection for flag-burning, or implement his proposal to punish women for having legal abortions, and resists his attempted removal of due process protections for immigrants, and resists the privatization of education as a violation of equal protection, then the damage Trump could do to democracy would be limited to some degree." The Critique – A Failure Of Democracy?

And reading too.

Good thing we are a republic...it is easier to keep you fascists democrats in check....

The Democratic Party should just move. The Republican Party, too.

Okay, so how would that be accomplished? The point of the thread is where the party should be on the political spectrum. Are you saying that the party is in about the right place on that spectrum?

Yes, it's about time they just announce themselves as the Communist Party.

The Democratic Party should shift right if they want to stay alive. Shifting further left would only serve to completely alienate them from main stream American Society.

They won't, they are incapable. The Progressive Agenda is their religion, and they are just as gung-ho about their beliefs as any Jihadist.

Yes. Let's continue the identity politics.

No one is expecting the Democrat Party to abandon minorities.

And I don't want my Representatives to pander to me for my vote.

But you can't expect me to vote for a party that tells me I am privileged because of my color and that I am at fault for someone else's decline because of that color.

I don't see me returning to the fold anytime in the future.

Keep torching our cities. That will teach me.

:itsok:

The democrats might as well keep going left and put themselves right out of business. They are blind to the reality that sane Americans don't want to be broken off in little special groups waiting for goodies reserved for them only. Trump won the election because he speaks to all Americans and addresses them like functioning adults.

What is Keynesian Economics? I am asking because I don't know but keep hearing that economic term.

Yep. Bernie might have beaten the Donald. I wonder why Ds are not more upset with their party, over Hillary's stealing the nomination.

Bernie did irreparable damage to Hillary's morality. Bernie should drink another pot of Navy Bean Soup in the Senate Office Building cafeteria and this time demand corn bread.

What morality?
