Since when does the Catholic Church have the right to force their religious values...

The church isn't paying for it. The employee is paying for it with his or her LABOR.

Labor pays for birth control?

Are you drunk?

When you work for someone, they pay you. They might pay part or all in cash. They might pay part in a health insurance policy. If that health insurance includes a prescription drug plan that provides birth control pills, that is still part of your pay for your labor.

So the employee has earned the healthcare coverage by WORKING. It is not 'given' to them as some sort of charity.

And who decides what your salary is? You? The government? Or your employer?

The church is paying for it from the money brought in by patients. Try it without the patients and see how that works. You write a lot of checks to insurance companies for your health care insurance?

You wrongly believe that the average Catholic voter opposes birth control, or opposes its availability.

So fine, the Catholics can stop offering a health benefit and pay them the cash equivalent, allowing the employee to pay for it on their own, liberating them from participating in an immoral (by there standards) act.

Problem solved.

He'd like to...but he prefers the O's payCzar:eusa_whistle:

Could be wrong, but I think most Catholics want birth control to be between them and God, not them and Obama.
god is not synonymous with the Manchildian Candyass, Barack Hussain Obama??

Well now the world makes less sense than before. :(

When I had my second child...I couldn't go to the local Catholic hospital because I was going to have a tubal at the same time, what with my child being a scheduled c-section and all, why be cut open twice?

Why should a hospital which doesn't perform a procedure be forced to pay for that procedure for it's employees?

Maybe a question would be in order at this point.

Under the provision of insurance companies providing free birth control to all insured people if it's requested, is anyone, whether Catholic or non Catholic, FORCED to use the benefit or actually USE birth control?

Under what auspices should an Insurence company be forced to provide anything they don't wish to?

The Government has NO authority to force them to do anything.

Nickle's worth of free advice.

Free birth control = no sex.

You don't have a right to any other kind for free.

No.

Going back to your orignal op.

It seems a bit plausible that Religious organizations should reserve the right to choose whom they higher and who they will not hire based on the religious faith as part of the criteria. That would allow the R.O.'s to control the content of the information in order to aid their overarching agenda.

Whether you like it or not, insurance companies have been highly regulated since forever, in part, to prevent fraud and to prevent companies from walking away from their legal obligations.

Nowadays, conservatives en masse seem to embrace the ridiculous notion that all regulation is bad. That's not the case by a long shot. Want an example?

Ever notice how earthquakes in China, and other less developed countries kill hundreds of thousands of people? Do you know why that happens? Because there aren't any gov't regulations about minimum construction standards, or they're simply not followed. Shoddy construction leads to buildings collapsing on the inhabitants.

If corporations are left to decide for themselves what they will and won't do, they'll cut corners to cut costs, and they will cheat people if there are no laws to prevent or punish them. That's because the love of money is a corrupting influence. Has the 2008 financial collapse taught you nothing?

Nor the right to petition Gubmint to coerce it from the unwilling under the point of a gun.

pffft! Now that's violating my rights as a citizen to petition the government to steal on my behalf.

What most Catholics are wondering is the same as everyone else. What's next. obama has been warring against religion since he took office. What this latest assault has done more than anything else, is remind people of everything else he's done. Can obama control himself and restrain himself for the next nine months? Nope. This will fester and grow and irritate. Hopefully the next attack on religion lances the boil.

The fact of the matter is that Obama is willing to do this outside his Constitutional limits shows what he is willing to do that we don't know about.

He can't be trusted.

The affordable care act provides for free preventive services starting around Sept 2010. It will probably save insurance companies a bundle of money too.

Nothing is 'free'. Someone pays for it. If not you, who? Me? Fuck that.
