Six cities dominate Americas economy

The ignorance of economics present in what passes for the libturd brain is astonishing. Just simply astonishing.
Much less astonishing is the fact that that rightwinger has simply no idea at all how economic statistics such as GDP are calculated and believes that the value of exported wheat raised in Kansas is reported only in the economic measurements of the Port of New York and not in the measurements of the state of Kansas. This is not a theory, it is not even an idea; it is an absurd assumption which even five minutes of Google investigation would have dispelled.

There are readers as ignorant and as mentally lazy as this poster who will find his observation profound and his use of the word "libturd" amusing. These are today's conservatives.

So a Wheat Growers Assn sells $100 Million Dollars of Kansas Wheat to the Chinese Government and tell me what happens?

I'll tell you since you have no clue.

A contract is signed. No money exchanges hands yet.

The grain is shipped by rail to the Port where it is accepted by the shipper and paid for.

The deal is recorded by the Shipper and taxes are witheld, as required by law.

If the departure port is Los Angeles, the transaction is recorded as a Los Angeles transaction ONLY taking place in a Port. No Sales Taxes are collected.

If export tariffs are due, they are collected by the shipping agent. They are sent to the United States Government along with a standard Income Tax deduction.

The transaction IS NOT RECORDED in Kansas. Or Nebraska. Maybe in your head, but not anywhere else.

Now, the PROFIT (if any) made by the Assn and its member IS reported to the Federal government... In particular, the US Treasury, the IRS.

But it's not recorded as GDP. It never sees any GDP (technically, GSP) list. Can't record it twice.

The sale took place in Los Angeles, NOT in Kansas.

When you get away from giant Port Cities, some of the GDP figures are right.

But this whole thing is just more mental masturbation on the part of the left.

Thinking that Dee-Troit Michigan is the 15th most important, richest hubs in the Country is beyond delusional.

It is simply a place where Autos and other machinery are shipped FROM. Not where they're made.

idiots

All you've done throughout this thread is manufacture a bunch of bullshit. Meanwhile in 2010, there were 7.8 million cars manufactured in the US of which 1.7 million cars were manufactured in the Detroit area. So about 22% of cars manufactured in the US are manufactured in Detroit.

Katrina was in 2005, welcome to 2014.

Katrina did massive PERMANENT damage to the Port of New Orleans.

unfuckingbelievable

Permanent?

Not hardly.

You are obviously not very informed on the status of Louisiana ports.

Eight Years After Hurricane Katrina, New Orleans Has Been Resurrected

I didn't see a word about their ports. Worst bullshit article I've ever seen. All I saw was that they have 100,000 fewer people and some shit about some idiots blowing on horns and acting like fools.

Please don't waste my time with bullshit anymore.

Dee-Troit is a pushole. The cars made in that area aren't made in Dee-Troit, they're made outside the City. The further, the better. Nobody lives in Dee-Troit anymore.

Do you?

Are you still in Dee-Troit?

How many of us here have fled the Big Cities of America?

How many of us in here HAD to flee? How many of us here had to leave lives behind? Friends, a way of life, our history, our family, our memories?

FUCK Big Cities. dimocrap scum took something that should have been our heritage and turned ALL of them into festering, open pustules on the asshole of society.

Dee-Troit a thriving economic center?

The North is dying. The Big Cities are dying. This whole thread is a pile of dishonest shit made up from guesswork and put together by the Mayors association.

What the FUCK do you expect them to tell you? The truth?

They lie. They misrepresent.

You want to stay in that nasty assed City? Go for it.

You think there's a future there? I got some beachfront property in Glades County to sell you

Go sell your shit somewhere else. The grown ups aren't buying it.

Your little tangent tells us all that you made up the bullshit you posted earlier in this thread. Backtrack noted.

Again, you are too ignorant or stupid to realize the OP is about metros and not just the cities. The metros would not exist without the cities. What largely populated area has ever existed without a city at the center of it? And the metro areas for 5 of the 6 mentioned in the OP are still growing, some stronger than others.

Port Comes Back Early, Surprisingly

Two weeks after Katrina.

The Port has lost capacity since its hey-day prior to Katrina.

And it ain't never coming back. Never

And to prove me wrong, you present me with a post written by some fucking 3rd grader about how cool and how resilient the people of nawlins are and how they're taking super-kool classes and powdering their pussies with pixie dust.

Then you give me another article about how they got their first cargo ship over nine years ago

That's all you have are insults. Yes nine years ago, 13 days after Katrina a port that you claimed had PERMANENT damage was back in business.

Fact is New Orleans is doing even better than before. Why would International Shipholding Corp. move it's base from Alabama to New Orleans? A business who last year recorded an annual revenue of more than $310 million dollars.

“I am excited to announce the return of International Shipholding Corporation to New Orleans, where ISH will continue a great tradition of maritime and international commerce companies operating in Louisiana’s largest city. ISH could have stayed in Mobile, but they are coming back home because of our strong business climate, expanding industrial projects, resurgent New Orleans economy, and business growth along the Mississippi River. We have worked long and hard to bring back this storied company to its rightful place in New Orleans. Not only is this a great international commerce win for our state, but ISH will provide outstanding professional career opportunities in New Orleans and add another publicly held company to our growing business community. International Shipholding’s return affirms a genuine truth about New Orleans – this city is back, and better than ever before.”

~Governor Bobby Jindal ~

About International Shipholding Corporation and its subsidiaries are engaged in waterborne cargo transportation that includes Jones Act Trade, Pure Car/Truck Carrier Services, Roll On/Roll Off, Breakbulk/Bulk Carrier Services, Domestic Coastwide Services, Container Vessels, Multi-Purpose Vessels and Rail Ferry Transportation. Port of New Orleans

The Port of New Orleans is down in shipping tonnage by about 10% from it's hey-day in 2001.

But that's a side issue.

My point is that GSP (Gross State Product) numbers of Export States is inflated by simple facts.

Billions of Dollars worth of stuff is shielded from State Taxes by the Import - Export Laws of the Commerce Clause of the United States.... As interpreted by the Supreme Court.

If a product(s) are in the stream of the export process, the originating State can not collect Sales Taxes on them.

And THAT is the ONLY way to determine how much stuff was sold, not sold, given away or whatever.

Try collecting that kind of data from Private Companies. Know what they're gonna tell you?

They'll make me look downright diplomatic in comparison.

The ONLY way to add up the GSP of a State is through Taxes collected. There just simply isn't any other way to do it. Can't be done.

So, once a product is in the 'stream' of the 'export process' it is protected by Federal Law from taxes.

Not until the product is delivered to the buyer is it taxed... Quite likely a 'Use Tax' (I haven't bothered with this shit in 40 years :dunno:)

I'm just telling you that the figures are inflated by products being sold/exported from other States and that the areas getting credit for a fantastic GSP are undeserving of the credit given them.

There are people out there in the dimocrap party who know this, they know they're lying and they just don't care.

You can believe whatever you want to. I don't care.

I'm here to help the people who are open to learning.... Not you
