So hours after the Amtrak crash, republicans cut the budget for it

Apparently our taxpayer dollars or at least some of them went to the salary of a former clerk at Target store who somehow became a conductor and later an engineer on the train and it seems he lawyered up after the accident. The main thing thing that the radical left consistently fails to understand is that problems aren't solved by throwing more taxpayer funds at them and that proper scrutiny and oversight of taxpayer funded projects does not translate to the "rich getting richer" unless you are a freaking socialist idiot.

What caused the higher speed? Well, derp derp DE derp derpidity derp.
Have you ever been in a locomotive? You must think driving a train is like the car race game at the video arcade. Derp!
So... what caused the train to go more than twice the safe speed?

The engineer doesn't remember, odd huh?

You know that how exactly? His lawyer is speaking for him. His lawyer said that?
You realize you're on the internet with a browser, no?

Obviously you didn't read the story.

Ya...and what caused the higher speed? Could have been a mechanical problem..AKA maintenance. We don't know ... and probably won't for several months ...maybe years but the transportation folks are pretty good reverse engineers and will eventually figure it out.

It's unlikely the engineer didn't know the risks of approaching the curve at 56 MPH over the legal limit. Unless he was suicidal there was probably nothing he could do to slow the train down to a safer speed.

Maybe the guy got his foot stuck on the accelerator pedal? Maybe not. Trains don't drive like cars. Since you seem to be the self designated expert perhaps you could tell everyone how it is not possible for that machinery to break so the accelerator mechanism can't be controlled.
Trains don't use foot pedals you dumbass. And to think earlier you questioned me about train knowledge. Good grief

The "dumbass" is the one that can't read.

Ah, republicans. You can always rely on their revenue gouging policies for aiding the rich, but what really makes them scumbags is that they refuse to do anything about our failing infrastructure system.
The train was going twice the speed limit.

Democrats had complete control for 6 years. They have had plenty of time money and power to correct things they felt were wrong.

"Democrats had complete control for 6 years." Misty is a liar.

Just think how greeeeat Amtrak could be with a 5 billion dollar subsidy ...

What would be your "improvement" on the U S transportation system? Private ownership of all of the highways and roads in our country? The Airports? The ferries? The trains?

What kind of a safety record and access do you imagine a completely "for profit" system would provide?

It makes perfect sense for republicans to cut the AMTRAK budget. After all, there is one less train to maintain.

Why is that Sparky? It says exactly what I did.

His attorney said exactly what I said he said: "I believe as a result of the concussion, he has absolutely no recollection whatsoever of the events."

What about that confuses you?

Amtrak loses money....
That should be addressed before we increase funding to them.
Wouldn't that make some sort of sense?

The accident was caused by the driver making a 100 MPH turn you dipshit.

Better yet the rightwing nuts are trying to blame the crash on the fact that the engineer is gay.

The Noth American class-I railroads are all privately owned, carry millions of ton-miles every year, have an impressive safety record and are accessible to everyone.

Impressive indeed! The link I provide lists the 1,000 or more railroad accidents since 2010. It's WAY to big to post here.

So your list encompasses the entire world and goes to show that even government controlled railroads will still have accidents..

What I can't understand is how they managed to peddle so hard to get the train going that fast. It must have been going downhill.

What do accidents in other countries have to do with the safety of NA railroads?
Were you padding your stat or did you not read your link?
