Sonic and Chili's Get On the Bandwagon

And tell the gun lovers to stay out of their restaurants!

Chili’s and Sonic became the latest national chains to wade into the gun debate on Friday, announcing in apparently coordinated statements that firearms are no longer welcome in their restaurants.

“We recognize that the open carry of firearms creates an uncomfortable atmosphere and is not permitted under many local liquor laws,” Ashley Johnson, a spokeswoman for Chili's' parent company, Brinker International, said in an email. “So, we kindly ask that guests refrain from openly carrying firearms into our restaurants and we will continue to follow state and local laws on this issue.”

Good for them for standing up to the NRA bullies!

Someone with a gun in a restaurant doesn't make me feel safer, unless I know they are trained to use it like police are....not just some short little training program. They end up shooting the wrong person.

That strategy worked so well in Virginia Tech, Sandy Hook, Columbine, the Washington Navy Yard, Aurora, ... Why do you suppose mass shootings keep happening in "gun free zones?"

How am I supposed to enjoy a nice meal out without an AR-15 strapped to my back? TYRANNY! TYRANNY!

Um...go to Applebys...

So you don't grasp the difference between public and private property? Seriously?

Hey, wait a minute.

What about "public accommodation" laws?

Oh, never mind, the Constitution is flexible to serve just certain people.

.

When you can cite where open carriers have been declared a protected minority covered by public accommodation laws, you'll have a point.

Dang, they haven't run with the victim thing.

Oh well, just wondering.

.

Oh they run with victimhood all the time...there's just no footing in this arena.

So liberals running to government to solve your problems for you are not practicing victimhood. People who want government to stay out of it are.

Hmm

If you can't wow us with your brains, maybe you could just shake your boobies...

:boobies:

The chances of a mass murderer mowing down a bunch of people in a Sonic or Chili's is extremely remote. You'll die from a falling meteor five minutes after winning the Powerball jackpot before you get killed in a Sonic.

Really? Seriously? You need to do a little research before assuming that you have all the answers.

The night manager of Chili’s Bar & Grill at Beltway 8 and Wilson Road was gunned down in the restaurant parking lot on the night of July 24 after he chastised a patron for making advances toward a female employee.

Harris County Sheriff’s Sgt. G.D. Pinkins said that Luis Monroy, 32, of Humble, was dead from gunshot wounds when authorities arrived at the scene around 11:20 p.m.

“According to witnesses interviewed at the scene, the suspect, Michael Hare, who is a frequent patron at the restaurant, was at the bar drinking,” Pinkins said. “After being told his advances were not welcome, Hare left the restaurant. Monroy had just walked the female employee to her vehicle when he was confronted by Hare.”

The 24-year-old suspect from the Cy-Fair area reportedly shot Monroy several times and fled the scene in a white car.

Hare was taken into custody about 20 minutes later when he returned to the scene for unknown reasons. Deputies found what is believed to be the murder weapon in Hare’s possession.
