Watching the video many individual protesters refuse to speak on camera

Why?

Are they unable to express themselves as individuals?

Do they know enough about the issue to avoid making fools of themselves?

These are media savvy kids who know better than to provide fodder to be used against their cause.

But it does sound like they know how to handle it. Not all attention is equal. They are well aware that lots of people are out to get them and portray them in ways they don’t want.

A simple answer to a simple question does wonders, especially when the protestor has their camera running and can post the entire exchange. IOW, these kids aren't very smart and are simply coached to let their handlers handle all the publicity. They didn't even have to learn why they were there, other than a few slogans to yell.

If the interviewer wants to portray the cause in a negative light, engaging with them will only do harm to their cause. The smart thing to do is to not engage.

These kids show intelligence and self restraint.

This thread attacks them for it because they don’t give you what you want, which is fodder for further attacks.

The purpose of the protest is to sway public opinion

If the media wants to hurt the cause merely reporting on the human excrement left behind after a week of student occupation is easy

But what can the protester say that the media can twist to use against Hamas?
