Syria Rebels Raid Lebanese Town, Capture Troops

Rebels fighting in Syria's civil war crossed into Lebanon and raided a border town Saturday, killing and capturing security force members in the most serious incursion into the tiny country during its neighbor's 3-year-old conflict. The rebels, who included foreign fighters, demanded to trade soldiers and police officers it captured in Arsal for some of the "most dangerous detainees," the Lebanese army said in a statement.

A Lebanese army general told The Associated Press that the gunmen attacked army positions near Arsal and troops returned fire. Another official said the gunmen also took control of the main police station in the town. Lebanon's state-run National News Agency reported that Arsal residents later freed police officers at the station, though rebels captured some weapons and released several detainees. It said gunmen killed two residents, two soldiers and wounded several others.

The Lebanese Army and the Hezbollah have started an operation against the terrorists. The operation is covered by the Syrian airforce.

I remain confused. Lebanon---Syria----Hezbollah------who is actually fighting whom?
Is it a Sunni vs Shiite alawite thing? -----Isis is sunni? right? uhm-----
I need the actual break down------are there any alliances between sunnis and Shiites?
Is any of this stuff pro Iran vs anti Iran??? ?????? what sort of prisoners
would who release? Is ISIS and Iran at all in cahoots?

refugees from the syria fighting are in Lebanon. Shiite hezbullah from Lebanon are helping Assad kill secular syrian opposition, FSA. Sunni fighters from around the world have entered the fight against the Shiite/alawite forces of Assad, most have become part of the ISIS.
Both ISIS and Assad forces have taken their fight across the border into Lebanon. Lebanese shiite and sunni are clashing with each other in Lebanon. Lebanese army is trying to keep the fighters and weapons smugglers from crossing the border.
Iran is helping Assad and shiites in Iraq against the ISIS. Kurds have declared their own state against the ISIS.
Spanning across Syria and Iraq from north to south are the Kurds, ISIS and the shiite states of syria and iraq backed by Iran. Lines fluctuate from day to day, even hour to hour.
Half the syria population is either displaced or refugees. Assad continues bombing civilians. UN keeps trying but Assad is not permitting safe passage of humanitarian supplies to be delivered. Supplies are being stolen by both Assad and ISIS forces. ISIS are destroying religious sites that are not sunni and imposing shariah on all. Mass executions, including crucifixion and displays of cannibalism for purposes of terror are being used by the ISIS. Under Haf.Ass cannibalism used to be part of the psychological training of syrian soldiers, using the bodies of executed prisoners. It has also be used from time to time by some palestinians. For most muslims, and the rest of the world, cannibalism is taboo. There are a rare few tribes in SE asia where it might still be practiced as part of funeral rituals.

oh-----ok still mostly----sunni vs Shiite/alawite-----sorta I was confused about them
poor kurds------I thought someone would like to have them as at least sometimes allies---
afterall-----salaadin was a kurd (??) I think.......... still seems like a hopeless mess.
If kurds GOT busy having kids----that might help-----or maybe they can migrate and
FORM UP -----a massive all kurd group. What happens to the people who take
a look at this mess and say -----??? whathehell??? whatever happens to the Sufis
when you need them?

The most interesting part of this is (NBC failed to mention) Hezbollah fighters fought off this Al Queda faction alongside the Lebanese Army.
It also interesting that Hezbollah has not taken any actions against Israel.

The "rebel group" is linked with the Islamic State.

The jihadists of the Islamic State have seized their first territory inside Lebanon, a long-feared strike that hits at the heart of the country’s uneasy sectarian balance.

A Syrian rebel group which has sworn allegiance to the Islamic State’s leader has set up check-points in the town of Arsal on the two countries’ border, though it has stopped short of declaring it part of the organisation’s “Caliphate”.
