The $2 trillion war

$2 Trillion on a useless war and we can't afford healthcare for our citizens

The personal upkeep of individuals is not a charge of the federal government... you are responsible for you... you want a wart removed or antibiotics for a UTI or to have a cough checked out, have the insurance, pay for it, or pay it off in installments

War and national defense costs money.. and while you may or may not be one who agrees with war X or war Y, the fact is that they are things that the government legitimately spends on.. a justified expense...

And not saying war is 'good', but sometimes they have to happen

Wish we would have cut 2T from other areas of spending though to offset... could have easily cut that much from entitlement spending

So the entitlements that people have been paying into their whole lives should be cut to fund an unnecessary war? No thanks.

Most receiving entitlements are NOT the contributors... the food stamps, the welfare, the Obama phones, etc... are not handed out to the tax payers.. they are handed out to the entitlement junkies

National Defense (hence war, etc) is a charge of the federal government.. taking care of the personal WANTS and/or needs of individuals is not

That's a lot of budgets worth of food stamps and welfare to add up to $2 trillion. It really isn't that large of a portion of our budget. And you know that all of that is handed out to entitlement junkies? All of it?

You get sick and can't afford treatment....Let em die

Thanks for playing

WRONG.. entitlement spending is the LARGEST part of our budget (yes, higher than defense)...

And there is nothing in the constitution enabling the government the power to do that whether it is all for entitlement junkies or just a vast majority.... that is a power reserved for the states or the individuals respectively

And the typical liberal argument... the emotional ploy.. the twist

Treatment is much better than life saving emergency care.... you are not going to die if you don't get every sniffle, wart, scrape, or sprain looked at by a physician... and if you want to have that care, TAKE THE RESPONSIBILITY AND PAY FOR IT OR PAY FOR THE INSURANCE LEVEL YOU WANT TO TAKE CARE OF IT... it is not anyone else's responsibility, INCLUDING the government

Start a health savings account... pay only for emergency care insurance... whatever... the CHOICE in how you take care of yourself is up to YOU and YOUR responsibility

WRONG, unless you are counting SS and Medicare which you initially said you aren't counting. Make up your mind.

Like there has never been wars before

None as insanely stupid, expensive and damaging as Bush's Iraq war.

And your OPINION means everything... drivebytroll thinks the war was stupid.. hold the phone, call everyone back, un-manufacture the bullets, get refunds on the kevlar.. the almighty troll has spoken

the fact is that there was a preceding conflict that was left unresolved because of the pansy attitudes at the time... and what happened because of those pansy attitudes should show everyone from now on that when you fight a war, you fight to win and finish the job COMPLETELY

Please don't misquote me: I said "no U.S. war was as insanely stupid, expensive and damaging as Bush's Iraq war"

There are more entitlements than just those... and I am counting SS and medicare, just not to those who are already taking from it.. as stated, a PHASE out, not an amputation.. office of management and budget shows that 61% of federal spending goes to entitlements/welfare, whereas defense is 19%.. FACT.. .food stamps and nutrition alone in 2012 was 114BILLION... cutting that down by 33, times 10 is over 1/4 of what is needed alone, medicaid/chip/Obamalamacare over 300BILLION.. the list goes on

Over 11 or so years, 2T could have easily been cut from all sorts of entitlements, redundant programs, research into monkey farts or lesbian weight gain, or whatever else

Using that logic Obamacare will cost $425,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000

Yes.. your OPINION was that it was stupid... that war was the CONTINUATION of the one WE fought during my service.. there is not a different war, there was a continuation when the terms of cease fire were breached and finally aggression was restarted...

Healthcare costs are skyrocketing out of control. A routine hospital stay easilly exceeds $100K, insurance is beyond the reach of many americans and does not cover much

Let em die is the best you got

Maybe this institute will let us know how much Obama's drone program is costing us and how many lives and casualties it has racked up

I'm just guessing, but I'd say about 175,000 fewer than W and Cheney killed.

For Bush's 2008 budget, the VA estimated they would need to treat 200,000 Iraq vets suffering PTSD and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)

Bush budgeted money to treat 40,000.

Today, VA estimates 400,000 Iraq Vets need treatment.

:(

Defending our MASTERS' corporations right to stripmine the planet is rather expensive, isn't it?

It takes boots on the ground to keep those petrodollars rolling into the accounts in the Cayman islands, ya know?

The war and occupation were also supposed to pay for themselves. :(
