So, I guess in THAT sense, one can celebrate the light of the world coming into the world (in the womb) even though the birth was most likely in September.

But as we all know, Christmas has become SO far off from what it is supposed to be about, how it has been commercialized, and all the santa crap, etc. That stuff has nothing to do with the birth of Christ.

As an Atheist, I have no problem with the following:
1. Christmas Trees (being called just that): They're decorative and great to look at.
2. Christmas Carols: The majority of them are very lovely songs (I don't have to believe in any deity tor me to enjoy them).
4. Christmas dinner: Tasty and fulfilling.
5. Christmas lights around town. They're also lovely to look at.
6. People wishing you a Merry Christmas, even if you don't believe that their Jesus was the son of a deity. Their kindness when they say it, is nice enough.
7. If your employer gives you time off for it, even if you don't believe (and they don't know it), it's a day extra, or week off. Don't tell your boss you aren't a Christian and just enjoy getting away from work a bit.
So, for all you frumps who grumble about Christmas, just find things to be positive about.

The cold time of the year can bring depression to people. The holiday season through New year is perfect for those doldrums and we actually slow down the hectic pace a bit. And with it a religious group celebrates the birth of their God. It fits. In the sports world the people who run the NFL hit a home run in helping to stem that depression with the Super Bowl about a month later. You can see Spring from there even if the cold is around for a while.

God didn't want the people to cling onto the physical nature of all thing. It is because it moves us far away from Him.You will not see the things that he has done for us. Adam and Eve were both naked in the beginning. And before they had ate from the tree, they didn't noticed that they were naked.
But we put more faith in our eyes than Him. if the eyes don't see, means that it don't exist.
