I have my kids on private plans. Their plans are grandfathered in, so they will be able to keep them.
So what you're saying is, as long as your children get to keep their plan, "fuck everybody else"?
No, but you are trying to make it out as if nobody will be able to keep their current plan when in fact most will. It is true that some employers may be forced to switch to cheaper plans due to the cadillac tax, but the fact is that employers have an option of compensating those employees with better pay if they must reduce their benefits. Nothing in this world is absolutely perfect, and it never will be, but sometimes we need to try to make things better. This is what is happening with the ACA. The best thing about it is that once we know what works well in the ACA and what does not, then positive changes can be made. I happen to prefer that method over just going back to what we had which was a system that allowed insurance companies to drop policy holders whenever they felt the cost was too high.
It's stupid to tax the so-called Cadillac plan. Why are people being punished for choosing to spend more money on a good insurance plan? Government should stay out of it and stop making things difficult.
There will be the same number of uninsured now that there were before, so Obamacare changes nothing in that regard despite that supposedly being the reason for doing this in the first place. Obamacare also punishes charitable hospitals who treat the poor for free. They'll have to stop doing that or face huge fines.
There is little good that will come out of Obamacare, which is why congress and the IRS will be exempt. How can anyone say it's a good thing when those who know it better than anyone want nothing to do with it?
Obama promised time and time again that people would get to keep what they have. He said that knowing full well that companies would lay off people and end their current insurance. He claimed costs would be lower and they are rising. He claimed it would help those uninsured people who couldn't afford it. The same number will still be in the same boat and the poor will pay more taxes now. Out of the 29 new taxes in Obamacare, 12 will apply to everyone.
Whether or not you like it, the government will have real time access to your bank account. That alone gives me the creeps.
The purpose of this was to transfer more power from the people to the government, impose new taxes and take a step toward socialism. Reid already admitted that it's just a step toward single payer. It's a mess on purpose and they know it's a disaster, as written. They don't care that it will make our lives more difficult until they can convince enough people that they need to go further and just socialize the healthcare system altogether. Once a government controls healthcare, they control everything. And, yes, the government bureaucrats will have a lot of say in who lives or dies. People over 75 are likely to be denied expensive surgeries and treatments. If bureaucrats get to decide what procedures you can have and government sets the costs of those procedures too high, it's fair to say they are death panels.
The government bureaucrats can easily see which party people are registered as and they can see exactly how much money we have in the bank at any given time since they'll have access. They will know our entire medical history. Considering how government agencies have been misused by dictators in the past and the fact that human nature is what it is, you can see the potential for eliminating dissenters simply by having the power to grant or deny lifesaving treatment.
I just plain do not trust government, especially not the Obama administration. It's a nightmare to think they are involved in any way in my health care and will have real time access to my money. I've seen how stupid government is when they are in charge of safekeeping the money they steal from us. What will these idiots do if they have the ability to transfer money from our accounts to supposedly pay for medical treatment? Will they deny procedures if they check our accounts and see that we don't have enough to cover it? If they see someone has plenty of money, will the cost of the procedures increase? If an illegal alien uses someone else's identity to get treatment, will the person will on the hook? Good luck getting that straightened out.
Seriously, the way it's set up, it's ripe for fraud, waste and serious abuse.
