That seems kind of far. Were there no doctors closer? Was this some sort of specialist thing available nowhere else?

It wasn't the doctor that's special; it's transportation. That would be me. There was no ambulance service that would take her there and wait and bring her back, even for ridiculous prices. So that's where I came in.

You must live in the middle of nowhere.

"Carolinia Agresticia: the Forest Primeval" :D

Night sky; Nature's flora and fauna; No traffic or industrial noises.... Nirvana.

Unless you get sick and have to see a doctor.

Well then I would just drive to her as anyone else would, wouldn't I? And if I couldn't drive I'd phone a friend.

Not sure why that should keep me from living in the forest primeval... :dunno:

Not needing to drive 700 miles might be a little more convenient.

I don't. My doctor's right in town. Which is 16 miles away. Twenty minutes.

Did I predict it or what?

Negged for respecting the lives of turkeys. This takes the cake, pun intended.

What a pathetic excuse for a waste of human protoplasm.

 I'd neg ya too but I just went over 300 for the first time and before when I negged somebody they just negged me back....I negged a MOD and he laughed at me for having a "puny" score.....so I'm gonna build up and neg him again when it makes him wince.
That seems rather pointless.

So take your friend to your doctor.

So take your friend to your doctor.

That would be a 1400 mile trip for a patient who can't walk and has kidney failure, to a doctor who's never seen her, doesn't know the history, and doesn't specialize in her conditions at all.

Good plan there. :cuckoo:

Sounds like your friend doesn't live next door to you.

More retailers have announced they will open Thanksgiving Day for your shopping pleasure, so to speak. Is this appropriate?

Should Thanksgiving remain a holiday, unique to America, when families gather together to give thanks, share a meal and create their own Thanksgiving memories and traditions? Or should Thanksgiving be a day when Mom or Dad has to excuse himself and go to work because bargains are offered to shoppers readying themselves for a holiday happening four weeks hence?

Will you shop on Thanksgiving, or will you take advantage of the day and enjoy it with family and friends?

Sometimes bargains are not really worth it, don't you think? If they come at the expense of yours or the clerk's family, are they really bargains at all?
I'll do 90% of my Christmas shopping online, and not on Thanksgiving.

Sounds like a lot of people on your Christmas list are getting XXX this year! A very thoughtful gift.

Actually they did stop when they saw me coming, so it would appear they already have the traffic gene selected. But they were all in a line and obviously intent on their target, so I just facilitated them doing that. Once I stopped, they all crossed and life resumed.

But I'll be sure to post the next time I let some driver out or allow a semi to re-enter the travel lane so I can collect a dozen negs. Jumbo size.

What a world where you get taken to task for not creating roadkill... says something about values.

Nobody took you to task for not creating roadkill.

You're being taken to task for thinking that honking is cruel, you nutbag.

Once again, "cruel" was your word, not mine.

Moron again:

"It's cruel to honk at anything innocent, yup." <<<< Pogo said.

BTW, you need to link that siggy, loon.

Send me one of those mention things when you come to some kind of point...

Don't you have any friends who live nearby? Doesn't she?

What the fuck is your problem? Just let it go. Haven't you got the brains to understand? When someone is sick and needs a friend, they find out who their real friends are. I learned that decades ago when my sister was diagnosed with MS. I learned it from her because she learned it fast enough. Most people won't disrupt their lives to help out somone with a serious, debilitating chronic illness. They manage to disappear or be unavailable most of the time, except for the few real friends one has. Why are you hasseling about this? Just let it go. Act like a grownup instead of an adolescent.

Nah, I'd rather stay at home with my family and enjoy thanksgiving dinner. My wife already likes to go to the insanity that is "Black Friday" shopping.

That was in answer to your word, intellectual black hole.

There are lots of things we don't know, but here's one I do: there will never come a day in the history of the universe where you are qualified to tell me what I need to do. Ever. World without end, amen. You can take that to the bank, Toots.

Of course I'm qualified. The fact that you don't recognize it is just more evidence of your stupidity.

I wonder what these people would do if they lived in Scotland or Australia and a flock of sheep were in the middle of the road, just plow through them and then throw whatever dead carcasses there were in the trunk? :cuckoo::cuckoo::cuckoo:
