I was against much of the bailout, but loans are hardly socialism. How they were constructed is up for debate. Converting tax payer money into ownership of corporations is socialist.

I agree somewhat. With Obama's win in 2008, the Regressives figured that it was essentially over, that demographics were now on their side and soon they'd be in full control.

Their mistake was that they jumped too soon, and we saw the pushback in 2016. The shock of this loss is the foundation of the behaviors you see today from them and the press.

But the demographics are continuing to evolve in their favor, and the GOP is simply ignoring that fact. The Regressives may have been 12-15 years too early. But it's coming. My guess is that this is over when Texas goes purple, and what REALLY concerns me is that liberals won't be in control of the party, the Regressives will be. I'd think that would concern you, too.

As Republicans have cut the social safety net and focused on corporate interests, the working and middle class has suffered. The longer policies favour the wealthy and corporations over working Americans, the lower the US sinks in freedom and liveability. You’re in danger of dropping out of the top 20.
