The first step in requiring immigrants to assimilate is….

...

How many readers believe that there are numerous ESL teachers available to do this type of bulk work with a major influx that’s happening by migrants avoiding checkpoints intentionally? ...
There are.

... the additional numbers of new babies increasing these families significantly. Three or more kids on average with many families having more.
...
Fertility rates among Latino immigrants are falling fast.

I went to grade and middle school in an immigrant neighborhood. It was common for classes to have multiple new students that spoke no English every semester. Their fellow immigrants translated for them and they learned English very quickly. They were usually fluent within a year due to immersion.
No they weren't.

There are.
There are over 1 million ESL teachers currently within the states, but let’s look at a few demographics to see if this holds true. At the current average timeframe an ESL teacher works between 1 to 2 years as an ESL teacher, with the highest majority of current teachers being in their 40s, look at the trends of those who are in their 20s and 30s it’s much less. A significant reduction in percentage comparison.

Yes, the were. Even at at age 11 or 12, I was AMAZED by his quickly the immigrant children became fluent. Within six months or so.

Perhaps it speaks to the difference in caliber of the immigrants of 50 years ago, who applied legally and had jobs, and the semi-literates breaking into our country now.

Puerto Ricans are American citizens and Spanish is co-equal with English in Puerto Rico, so Spanish IS an American language.
And along with the Spanish language they were cursed with an inferior Spanish culture

The island and its inhabitants would be better off if they all think English and speak English

Only because we failed to outlaw it when we took control of the island in 1904. If they want to speak Spanish, fine. We’ll let them be their own country and see how that works out for them.
