The greatest tragedy in U.S. history

I'd say slavery was our greatest tragedy. Not only for African-Americans themselves but the amount of dead on both sides of the Civil War that far outnumber what has been lost in foreign wars
Not even close. Over a million people have died for liberty in U.S. wars. Seeing progressives cash in liberty like chips in exchange for government handouts is a billion times more tragic than slavery (and will ultimately result in slavery again - this time for all races)

Did any progressives die for liberty in US wars?

Not even close, my eye. Yeah over a million died but the Civil War accounting for a mighty big portion of that.
Well sure. And what were they fighting for? Liberty. To free the slaves.

Well I think it is imperative to first establish that the majority of progressives refuse to serve their country (even in non-military capacity, such as volunteering). The military is overwhelmingly conservative and we all know it.

Those rare progressives that did serve sure as heck didn't do it for liberty. If they did, they wouldn't come home and vote to undo everything they sacrificed for.

So how does a progressive differ from a liberal?

It doesn't. At all. What the left does is rebrand everything once it is exposed for what it actually is and their false narrative can no longer carry it. Once "Global Warming" was exposed as a fraud, the left rebranded it to "Climate Change". Once the ugly side of Marxism was exposed, it was rebranded as progressivism in the early 1900's. Once that was exposed for what it was, it was rebranded as liberalism.

So is there an accepted definition of progressive or liberal that the colleges and universities use, or do we just change those words to meet our needs?

Unfortunately, words have no meaning to the left. It's why they say that the U.S. Constitution needs to be "interpreted" even though it was passed into law and is written in plain English. They just randomly change the meaning of any word to suit their agenda.

The stupid greedy southern conservatives should have chilled as usual...always a gd problem...

BS. SC said so. What amendment do you have a problem with? And bs.

Not lying about a bj. The New BS GOP hypocrites are a disgrace.

The core hypocrisy and blindness that allowed for slavery at the beginning of the nation has permeated government and society ever since. Evidence shown throughout the threads here at USMB makes clear that the prognosis is not rosy for the future of America.
As for the coming 'election', it only goes to prove the enormous tragedy of the two party dictatorship and its control of this nation. Anyone voting for either party has to be covering his or her eyes to truth and honesty.

It depends who you are asking and who is in office. If you're asking a progressive and a conservative holds an office, "high crimes" means everything and anything. If you're asking a progressive and a progressive holds office, "high crimes" doesn't even exist.

If you're asking a conservative - "high crimes" means political crimes committed against the state no matter who holds office.

No - it's not the murder of 5 police officers in Dallas, or 3 police officers in Louisiana. It's not 9/11 or the Oklahoma City bombing. It's not the Watts Riots, the LA Riots, or the New Orleans Riots. It's not the $19 trillion in national debt or the erosion or rights. Unbelievably, it's not even slavery.

The greatest tragedy in U.S. history (in world history for that matter) is the unimaginable sacrifices men and women who founded this country and fought in wars to protect it, made - only to have modern-day liberals take their sacrifices and turn them into bargaining chips to be traded in for pitiful government table scraps and other handouts.

I guess for some - who never had to make any sacrifices and had freedom handed to them on a silver platter - liberty just doesn't mean that much. Millions throughout U.S. history made tremendous sacrifices - up to and including giving their lives - only to have it voluntarily surrendered by those on the left for some stamps allowing the purchase of cigarettes and beer.

The Sacrifices Made by the Men Who Signed the Declaration
lmao
