Not all public schools are created equal though. I go to public school, but our school has a 97% graduation rate and the top students are consistently national merit scholars and become doctors, engineers, etc. Meanwhile, in nearby Gary and Chicago, the dropout rate is sky-high and kids graduate without learning how to read. Guess which way my community(Munster) votes and how Gary/Chicago do?

Of course, most public schools learn more toward Gary/Chicago than Munster, but it is worth pointing out.

You have a poor understanding of the left. Most liberals do believe in the free market. We just think government has its place in it. As successful capitalism is as an economic system, its fatal flaw that if left unchecked, the wealthy dictate the quality of life for everyone.

The middle class is shrinking while only the wealthy become more and more powerful despite the booming productivity that occurs in the lower classes.

I'm all for a wealthy class, but I am also all for a thriving middle class .

The 85 richest people in the world have as much wealth as half the planet. Obviously that is a problem.

You do have some fair points that social conservatism can contradict liberty, but you're greatly exaggerating them. The issue with gays is about whether or not the state should grant marriage licenses to them. Gays can get married at many different churches all across the country. Liberals believe the federal government should mandate all 50 states issue gay marriage licenses. Conservatives want to leave it up to the states. Maybe you're right that this is infringing a "right', but it's nothing compared to the economic freedoms that the left infringes on America. You're using the progressive's definition of a "right", which implies that rights come from government (ie public assistance, food stamps, etc.) I don't believe that things like welfare are rights. I believe in the natural rights of life, liberty, and property, which come from God and are secured by government. The classical liberals had it right on this, until the progressive left redefined what it meant to be "liberal" and altered the definition of a 'right'.

With regards to Civil Rights, I'd like to point out that the GOP of the time(which was still more conservative than the Democratic Party on economic issues at the time; we could argue about social issues, but keep in mind that I'm a libertarian) was more conservative than the Democrats at the time.

It's liberals who insult women by saying they can't control their birth control, insult minorities by saying they're not good enough to get into college without affirmative action, insult gays by making them feel like they can't control their feelings, insult science by manipulating data on global warming to suit their agenda, and insult voters by promoting rampant ACORN voter fraud.

There is a difference between propaganda and facts. For instance the long lines of people waiting to vote was evidence of "voter suppression". See how easy that was?
