The Losertarian Party - Look at This List of Winners - LMAO

There should be NO government regulations on big business

That is correct

The only regulations that can be trusted are those of the free market.

.

Extremism, exhibit A. :D Sorry, but you are only hurting your party with this type of nonsense.

Singapore and Hong Kong have virtually no regulations at all, probably the closest thing to Laissez-Faire in the world, and they are two of the most prosperous, successful economies on the planet

And the MOST polluted where people actually become sick from breathing. :eusa_hand: A friend of mine went on a trip to China with her daughters recently and said the air quality was SO terrible.

That's China. I'm talking about Singapore and Hong Kong. And yes, I'm aware Hong Kong is now part of China, but they are a fairly autonomous region. Both places have some of the highest longevity rates in the world.

You don't know what you're talking about.

Bullshit.

How about educating yourself. I realize it might be the first time, but less bullshit may be exactly what you would be spewing

Well, there are some "extreme" libertarians too who do actually believe that there should be NO regulations on big business . . .

So, you at first deny there are Libertarians who say corporations won't dump toxic waste because then people won't like them or buy their stuff.

And then with your statement that "the only regulations that can be trusted are those of the free market" to keep them honest, you confirm you are one such person.

Stop bullshitting Mendel,

Ron Paul on Environment

Republican Representative (TX-14); previously Libertarian for President

Eliminate the ineffective EPA

  • As President, Ron Paul will lead the fight to:
  • Remove restrictions on drilling, so companies can tap into the vast amount of oil we have here at home.
  • Repeal the federal tax on gasoline. Eliminating the federal gas tax would result in an 18 cents savings per gallon for American consumers.
  • Lift government roadblocks to the use of coal and nuclear power.
  • Eliminate the ineffective EPA. Polluters should answer directly to property owners in court for the damages they create --not to Washington.
  • Make tax credits available for the purchase and production of alternative fuel technologies.

.

It's too late by then, dummy.

The retards never cease to amaze me - consider for example the Price Anderson Act, then and ONLY then repost

Nuclear Regulatory Confusion
By John Levendis and Walter E. Block

Introduction:

The nuclear power industry has never been free from government interference. The unintended consequence of subsidization and regulation has been a distortion in the price of nuclear power and an increase in the risk of nuclear catastrophe. Subsidies, via the Price-Anderson Act, and regulations via the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), should be removed. In fact, all governmental distortions in the energy market should be removed. Only if the nuclear industry is free from government intrusion can we ever answer the question: should there even be a nuclear industry?

More importantly, the Price-Anderson Act insulates the power companies from paying any damages over this amount.

.

Don't tell me when to post, loser. Some "libertarian" you are. Douchebag.

Duke Energy Caught Intentionally Dumping 61 Million Gallons Of Coal Waste Into North Carolina Water
BY EMILY ATKIN MAR 21, 2014 10:21 AM

North Carolina regulators on Thursday cited Duke Energy for illegally and deliberately dumping 61 million gallons of toxic coal ash waste into a tributary of the Cape Fear River, which provides drinking water for several cities and towns in the state.

The incident marks the eighth time in less than a month that the company has been accused of violating environmental regulations. The North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) said Duke — notorious for the February Dan River disaster which saw 82,000 tons of coal ash released into state waters — was taking bright blue wastewater from two of its coal ash impoundments and running it through hoses into a nearby canal and drain pipe.

Duke is reportedly permitted to discharge treated wastewater from the ash ponds into the canal, but only if they are filtered through so-called “risers,” pipes that allow heavier residue in the water to settle out. DENR told ABC News on Thursday that Duke’s pumping bypassed the risers.

“We’re concerned with the volume of water that was pumped and the manner it was pumped,” DENR Communications Director Drew Elliot told ABC. “It did not go through the treatment facility as it should have.”

Duke’s most recent incident was discovered after the environmental group Waterkeeper Alliance last week released aerial surveillance photos taken from a fixed-wing aircraft that showed Duke workers pumping wastewater from the two toxic coal ash lagoons into a canal.

Waterkeeper Alliance tried to go to the source of the pollution via boat but were warned off by plant employees and a policeman, so they resorted to aerial surveillance, as seen in this clip from the Rachel Maddow Show on MSNBC.

I can post these all day. If you think for a moment that companies "care" about pollution and would keep tabs on themselves, then you are one of the biggest idiots to ever exist.

An Apple parts supplier has been caught and fined after it polluted a river in Shanghai, China.

The company, Riteng (a subsidiary of Casetek), turned a local river “milky white” after opening its Songjiang #3 factory two years ago.

Officials for Casetek told the Financial Times that employees improperly disposed of the water they had been using. The company claims in a press release:

“It’s just Chinese new year annual cleaning. We will cooperate with the government, and the pollution is nothing to do with the production line of our factory … according to our understanding, it’s a mistake that staff made.”

While Casetek appears to take a somewhat trivial stance for its actions, the pollution caused by the company killed the fish population in the river. Farmers have also complained that they can no longer use the rivers water to grow their crops because it is too acidic.

Liu Fengqiang, deputy director of the Songjiang district environmental protection bureau, says Casetek is lying about its employees’ actions. Fengqiang claims that chemicals used for cutting and polishing have leaked into the river.

While Casetek claims its actions were a one-time event, Liu Fengqiang notes that other environmental violations are also on record at his office.

Elected Officials | Libertarian Party

This site lists the 100 or so Losertarians currently holding office. Lol it is pathetic.

No state or Federal legislature, maybe 5 mayors of insignificant tiny cities and 2 low level judges.

The vast vast majority of Losertarian officials occupy meaningless "clutter" posts that goes against every one of their stated positions of small government.

Congrats you have accomplished so much in you near 5 decades of existence!

Lib Party has NEVER been focused on gaining power. And your OP is wrong. There have been about FIVE state legislature seats won. Three in Alaska. Doesn't matter. We're winning on ideas.

The Cato and Reason Institutes are highly cited Research Tanks. We have many "closet" libertarians in high places. Including guys like Gary Johnson.. Who will debating tonight (friday) on Stossel (another major public figure). Even candidates such as Rand Paul are often self-described as Libertarian.

You just think that declaring a PARTY affiliation is the end of it. We are not FOCUSED on the party. We are focused on the goals. Which is being consistently more socially liberal than the Dems and consistently more fiscally conservative than the Republicans.

It is a place on the political map that is EXTREMELY American., And if the two parties didn't force us to spend $10Mill every cycle just to GET ON the ballot and then SUE us in court for TRYING to get on the ballot --- we might have energy and money left to campaign.

Since ONLY Libertarians would actually kill corporate welfare -- the fund-raising is a bit harder for us than your Loyal DEM/REP re-tred...

Yeah, I only have family there and I've only been there like a dozen times. You, having never been there, obviously know more than I do.

That is correct

The only regulations that can be trusted are those of the free market.

There's no need for special regulations. We have laws that protect property rights. We have contract law. We have tort law. If a company commits fraud or damages someone's property, there are already laws that deal with such things.

Apart from local sources of pollutants, Singapore has had in more recent times to deal with the transboundary haze pollution from Indonesia.
The sources of air pollution can be grouped into three categories as follows:
  • stationary sources such as power stations, oil refineries and industries;
  • mobile sources such as motor vehicles; and
  • others such as open burning of waste materials and transboundary air pollution.

ea.gov.sg/psi_faqairquality.aspx)

Industrial:
Earlier this year, a plume of black smoke rising from a refinery on the southern island of Bukom alarmed West Coast residents, who feared it could be noxious.
The National Environment Agency (NEA) gave the assurance that, although unusual, the smoke had not affected air quality on the mainland; however, complaints of polluted ai
r from Johor refineries and odours of burnt cocoa from factories elsewhere pop up regularly in Internet forums like Stomp and punggol.org.

The NEA, concerned that the bad air problem will only intensify as industrial hubs like Jurong Island develop, is calling for expert help. It hopes to keep in check the particles more than 10 times smaller than the width of a human hair, and the levels of sulphur dioxide, which contributes to corrosive acid rain.

Haze:
Of all the outdoor air pollution that Singaporeans are subjected to every year, the haze probably wreaks more health havoc than any other.
At least four respiratory specialists in private practice and the Changi General Hospital said they have seen a 20 per cent jump in the number of patients with asthma and chronic lung illnesses in October, a trend which generally mirrors those seen in previous haze seasons here in the last decade.
The Pollutant Standards Index (PSI), the indicator used here to measure air quality, crept into the unhealthy range - PSI 108 - for the first time in four years in October this year.
Singapore has not managed to go a year without the haze in the last decade. In most years, it has been in the moderate range.
The haze - fumes blown this way from forest fires burning in Sumatra - contains minute ash particles known to trigger underlying health conditions.
During the last bad haze episode in 2006, Singapore had several days of air in the unhealthy range, with the PSI peaking at 130.

While the agency has maintained that Singapore’s air pollution is well within the good range, residents, commuters and researchers say they would like more publicly available pollution information, and for the authority to keep a closer watch on the culprits.
