The Personally Discovered Joys of Being Unemployed

FYI, no-one had applied for National IT as of last Friday and there's actually more than one IT position open in the party (most of the states need one, I don't think even half of them have one.) There's also a bunch of other positions across the nation (treasurer, secretary, etc.) They're hurting for folks who can get stuff done in time for the presidential election. ~shrug~

Hey a great looking party!

Veterans Party of America

Thank you again!

I was reading your mini-rant with interest until you mentioned Sander's name.
If you really believe Socialism is the cure for what ails you you deserve to be unemployed and broke.

So because I have a different take on politics than you, I deserve to be unemployed and broke?

Where did conservatives like you lose your soul and minds? I used to admire conservatives like William F Buckley and William Bennet, but those guys are all gone and forgotten.

Now we just have drones like you who seem to think that political vindictiveness will sell in America.

Enjoy your future irrelevance.
You are broke and unemployed because you have behaved like a fucking LIB pussy with a chip on your shoulder. That's obvious to all of us here.
Do you in your most delusional moments think WFB wouldn't tell you the same as the rest of us here are telling you? Fucking dream on pal.
If you can't make it in the USA with your so-called computer skills (never mind you can't spell) you sure as hell would never make it in Bernie's Socialist Utopia. BTW, you didn't get your 'man-bun' straight this morning.

That there is funny. Seems to all of us here it's YOU who is bitching about being 'irrelevant' now. HAAA HAAAA!

The offer for the ride in my mas. still stands.
I'll even give you a few hundred bucks to get back on your feet.

I feel you Jim, I really do. Your anger is misplaced however.
You are 58, I am 51. That means we are both old enough to remember "pre-corporatized" America.
Before the corporations took over.
For the past 30 years or so, our country has slowly turned from a Representative Republic to a Plutocratic Corporatocracy. PERIOD. All carefully planned to be slow enough so that the population is conditioned to believe that what is - is normal. But we know better than that. Don't we?
For us, driving down main street we remember that lined up along the sides were almost 100% local-privately owned businesses. Get off the main roads and what did we see? We saw many small local manufacturers and raw material suppliers. Occasionally there were the large, but still privately owned, factories. Some employing 100's...some even a 1000 or more.
Driving further out of town we would be greeted by family farms. Many-many family farms. Most of them multi-generational. They are almost all gone now. The small manufacturers are nearly 100% gone. The large factories were all consumed and merged, and re-merged, and even re-merged again by corporations.
Every merger was done to shake of the "excess fat" - otherwise known as employees.

Who did this to us? It wasn't Republicans friend. It was Democrats...AND...Republicans.
Our state and federal governments are wholly corrupt. Corporations and special interest have completely replaced OUR representation with THEIR interests. Legislation and regulations are not written to protect us, they are written to progress the corporate takeover and to fantastically reduce private ownership.
This is why we see the wealth concentration where it is today, and has DRAMATICALLY WORSENED under a DEMOCRAT President. Obama is a corporatist. And so is Hillary. In fact I challenge ANYONE to give a name of any elected politician that is more of a corporatist than Hillary.
The parties no longer matter. They are the same.

None ofthem are positive, but only the kind of joys like the joy of discovering that your spare tire is as flat as your new flat on a cold rainy night on the interstate.

I have had the joy of learning how irrelevant I am. Apparently our society does not need 58 year old software engineers with 20+ years of experience if the corrporations can have 23 year old 'geniuses' right out of Hyderabad for half the pay.

I have had the joy of discovering that my cat is losing his little kitty cat mind.

I have had the joy of learning that my conservative friends think I am being lazy because I cannot magically force software companies to hire me.

I have had the joy of learning that 'cabin fever' is not just a movie plot device.

But there are some real good things so far.

My wife and I have learned what is really needed as we slashed our budget of every item and expense we can do without. This is how consumer economies are destroyed.

We have also learned that we could consolidate much of our debt and reduce our monthly bills.

I have learned how to tell myself 'no', to everything from stopping on the way home to grab a bite at a local restaurant after chasing down items on a Honey-Do list to getting that new computer that is so fast. Again, not good for the economy, but it can no longer be helped.

I have also seen a glimpse of our 'jobless economy' in the not too distant future, and it sucks. Royally sucks. I have not been so angry in all my life and let me tell you Republicans something you can take to the bank; the voter rage that is coming if your party continues to push Free Trade idiocy is going to be like a Tsunami.

Sanders is only the ocean receding, not the real wave, trust me on this.

While I do not agree with you often- I do agree with you unemployment sucks- I have faced it myself.

I wish you the best of luck with finding a job- and you are a sterling example of why I think its bullshit that all of these companies say that they cannot find trained software talent here in the United States.

No, I just think you're an asswad for attacking others as idealogues when you yourself maintain it's the fault of Republicans that you are currently jobless.

Hypocrite.

How did conservatism mentally and spirtually die from the head down like it has?

William F Buckley's slam on Ayn Rand was that she had n o heart, no compassion for other people, and now the Buckley mindset has passed on and the Rand mindset has taken over.

This will not end well for the GOP, no way.

America is not a soulless monstrosity that is willing to throw its own elderly, infirm or orphans into the economic gutter, nor will it ever if it is to remain America as we have always known it.

Can the contrast be any more glaring?

No.

The Conservative movement has lost its mind and soul to Libertarian thieves who have turned it from the party of Reagan and Buckley into the party of Corporate Crony Networking and Ayn Rand.

I award post a winner, but so called free trade and it's ability to de industrialize America was a joint effort of demorats and repubs. obama and bill clinton would talk against these job killing trade giveaways on the campaign trail, but would sell out their base once in office. Same goes for bringing the visa holders from the third world to drive down hi tech wages here.

Thank you for reposting that. I dont know how I missed it.

Great post, and I think you have hit the heart of the matter straight on.

But my complaint is that WE NEED A PARTY TO BE THE DEMOCRATS OPPONENTS NOT THEIR ACCOMPLICES.

The first step to fixing this mess is to replace the GOP if it cannot be reformed from the inside and the GOP Establishments response to Trump and Cruz demonstrate, I think, that it cannot be reformed. Then bargain down the Democrats to something reasonable.

You bet...and also why Obama was in Cuba. The corporatist are salivating at the thought of $20 a month laborers.

I've got a good idea for a video game. Is that what software engineers do?

Video games are like major Hollywood productions. A thousand people of differing disciplines are involved.

I was watching a show last week (Scorpion) and a woman came on screen and I said "shit, that's Piper from Fallout 4."

Games use professional actors and state of the art effects.

Shit fer brains shortbus (Bode) thinks that was funny.

But then, she is dumb as a bag of dog turds, just not as pleasant to be around.

I believe we have passed the moment of no return concerning the parties. Both are hopelessly lost and we as Americans are also hopelessly divided by party politics. There has been no time in our history where we are so foolish and blindly defending "our" side.
Party dividers have done a masterful job at dividing the people so we could so easily be conquered.
America has been extracted. We have lost our wealth and ownership to an extraordinary few elites who are the REAL culprits...but we are so blinded by party battles that we cannot see it.

What is conservatism supposed to *offer* you?

Offer me? Conservatism is supposed to be nationalistic, and patriotic, right?

I am a veteran who spent years gfoing to night school so I could get into software engineering, and all that conservatives are SUPPOSED to do is make sure that Americans get top priority in hiring here in America.

Why is that so hard to squeeze through your ideological brain cell?

I dont want you to give me money or even a job. I can find those myself and have for decades.

I just want the LAWS ENFORCED that prevent the importation of CHEAP LABOR.

But no, you morons are throwing the Middle Class under the bus in the pursuit of corporate cash.

So to hell with every damned one of you morons who have no commitment to other Americans being able to provide for themselves, dimwit.

It is never too late.

We might lose most of our wealth, but as long as we draw breathe we can fight this unholy coalition of perverts, multinationals and Free Trade morons.

I don't know if you have seen this before Jim...this is a RARE...I mean R A R E moment in American television when a host loses it and actually tells the truth, mostly...and to boot it was MSNBC...one of the best moments in television this decade.
