The reality of poverty in America: 1/3 of Americans can't afford an unexpected $2000 expense

The so called greatest country on earth can't make healthcare affordable for everyone. Methinks the "greatest"label is very questionable.

Sure, you can make healthcare affordable to everyone. Other people (the wealthy) would have to pay for it, we would have to go much further than 20 trillion in debt, we would have to force everybody to pay it via a consumption tax, but it can be done.

The problem would not be to pay for it, the problem would be the ramifications of paying for it.

This applies to both a savings account and credit. Thats how poor Americans are, yet republicans thinks food stamps, Meals on Wheels funding for seniors, or public-assisted health insurance are unimportant in America. At a 19% poverty rate, many other developed nations have a lower poverty rate than the US.

So, republicans, what is your plan for getting people out of poverty? We already know cutting taxes for the top 1% and deregulation do absolutely nothing to alleviate poverty. This is all despite the fact that corporate profits are at an all time high and wealthy people are wealthier than ever before.

1 in 3 Americans can't come up with $2,000—here's how much you should be saving

So how the hell do they afford Obama cares $6,000 a year deductibles?

Oh yeah they can't..

Do you comprehend now Billy why obamacare is not health insurance?

Yep. In 2015, the US government stole over 1.5 billon dollars out of our economy in Commie Care fines. I'd be willing to bet most of those people couldn't have handled a $2,000 emergency expense either.

IRS: More paid Obamacare fine than expected

Damn that many paid?

Yep, and that's down from the year before if I remember correctly.

Are lefties so short sighted that they forget that the last president was a democrat and the current administration is merely two months old. Who do we blame for poverty then?

Have you noticed how republicans will bitch about Obama not alleviating poverty yet will contradict themselves by believing the government should stay out of the private market? Hmmm.
trillions have been spent on poverty. From the great society to your boys last eight years.

I have nothing against helping those who are in the process of making the effort to help themselves. I guess that attitude is why so many illegal aliens get hired while those that sit on their butt or do worse remain in their current situation.

So why did you approve of FORCING people to buy health insurance if they can't afford it.

Billy never thinks before he makes a thread...

The problem is in your question: How do you Republicans plan for getting people out of poverty?

It's not the job of government or parties to get people out of poverty. If you are in poverty, it's up to you to get yourself out of it.

Government may have assisted throughout the years that led people into debt, and yes, that can be reversed with enough support from the public. The first step we took was getting a Republican into office. That's a big help right there.

Next is the reduction on ridiculous environmental regulations that we indirectly pay for with every product we buy. That goes hand and hand with the list of other intrusive regulations government inflicts on our job creators. No harm will come of it if we do reduce taxes on our job creators.

Then there are the social programs that have been abused the last decade or so. We have hundreds of thousands of jobs Americans won't even consider because social programs pay so well. Reduce payouts to the point it would be more advantageous to work instead, more people will eventually have more money in their pockets.
More money in their pocket and less idle hands. Get up America. Go to work.
