The tropical cyclone thread!

Just Australia ... right? ... I'm going to be safe along the US Gulf coast until July ...
The system above is in the North Indian ocean and is heading towards Burma.


I'd be watching on the gulf coast as they do happen before July...
Here are the Atlantic tropical cyclones that hit the Gulf Coast in May and June between 1980 through 2022:

  • Tropical Storm Arlene (May 30 - June 3, 1981) made landfall near Franklin, Louisiana as a weak tropical storm.
  • Tropical Storm Allison (June 26 - July 1, 1989) made landfall near Galveston, Texas as a tropical storm, causing significant flooding in the Houston area.
  • Tropical Storm Alberto (June 30 - July 14, 1994) made landfall near Panama City, Florida as a tropical storm and caused flooding and mudslides in the southeast United States.
  • Tropical Storm Arlene (June 11 - 20, 1995) made landfall near Pensacola, Florida as a tropical storm, causing minor damage.
  • Tropical Storm Allison (June 5 - 17, 2001) made landfall near Galveston, Texas as a tropical storm, causing widespread flooding and significant damage.
  • Tropical Storm Cindy (June 28 - July 7, 2005) made landfall near Grand Isle, Louisiana as a tropical storm, causing flooding and tornadoes.
  • Tropical Storm Arlene (June 8 - 12, 2005) made landfall near Pensacola, Florida as a tropical storm, causing minor damage.
  • Tropical Storm Barry (June 19 - 23, 2007) made landfall near Intracoastal City, Louisiana as a tropical storm, causing minor damage.
  • Tropical Storm Debby (June 23 - 27, 2012) made landfall near Steinhatchee, Florida as a tropical storm, causing flooding and power outages.
  • Tropical Storm Andrea (June 5 - 7, 2013) made landfall near Steinhatchee, Florida as a tropical storm, causing minor damage.
  • Tropical Storm Cristobal (June 3 - 8, 2020) made landfall near Grand Isle, Louisiana as a tropical storm, causing flooding and tornadoes.
  • Tropical Storm Claudette (June 19 - 22, 2021) made landfall near Port St. Joe, Florida as a tropical storm, causing flooding and tornadoes.

[Shrugs shoulders] ... we get cold-core cyclones here ... even if the storm did originate as a tropical cyclone, she'll have transition long before she reaches the Coast of Jefferson ...
