Because the baker’s free speech was not part of the ruling. Where speech was involved, businesses have won lawsuits against gay people. That’s one of the most common bits of misinformation spread among conservative circles. The baker had every right to refuse any speech requested on the cake.

unfortunately this isn't how it works. when people get "abused" they want justice and to force the behavior on others to comply. i'm like you in that you can go find something else to use or build a better solution.

but the way "people" work is to use the gov / laws to slow things down. working at Microsoft in the 90s and beyond showed me quite a bit that once they say you have an unfair advantage, look for regulations and being told how to operate next.
