Trump Guilty!

The underlying crimes were violation of both state and federal election laws. Hiding the hush money payments and the Catch and Kill scheme were a violation of state election law and failing to report the payments as a campaign expenses violated federal election law. The statues are listed in the charging document. These underlying crimes turned the falsification of business records, normally a misdemeanor into felonies.

You may chose not understand this but it was clear to the jury who delivered only about 10 hours before delivering a unanimous verdict of guilty.

I would not want to be the judge in this case. He has to pass sentence and no matter what he decides, it will be condemned by republicans or democrats or both. Hopefully, he will disregard the fact that Donald Trump is a presidential candidate and delivery a just sentence.
But we don’t know if the underlying crime for which he was found guilty was state or federal election laws, as the jury didn’t specify. And there was no requirement of unanimity, either.

Plus, he was not guilty of federal election law. The judge blocked the defense expert witness from explaining why.

That counts on Republicans actually having the courage to stand up to him.

Looking at people like Ted Cruz, (Trump called his wife ugly and said his dad killed JFK) or Nikki Haley, and frankly, I wouldn't count on them to stand up to Convicted Felon Donald Trump. They haven't up to this point. They didn't even after he unleashed an angry mob to do them bodily harm!
Yawn. Joe, nobody cares that the leftists hate the rightists. We're used to it, threw away the T-shirt, and back to our conservatism that makes our lives comfortable. If we went to war tomorrow, ,it likely wouldn't be with each other, and in fact, we love our fellow Americans regardless of party affiliation. :woohoo:

You mean the ones a GS-9 packed into a box?

Except there's no evidence Joe got any money for that, and all those transactions were legal for work done.
Jill was at Hunter's court date today. She was staring down prospective jurors. We understand what evil is. We understand when we live in tyranny.

Joe Biden literally STOLE classified materials from a secure location when he was a Senator! That isn't a legal matter about whether or not the materials that Trump had he had the right to have...it's literally a case of someone stuffing classified materials down their pants to smuggle them out of a SCIF! That's what Joe Biden would have HAD to do to steal those materials!

BUT unless the SCOTUS steps in, this will drag on until after the election.
SCOTUS will not step in at least not anytime soon. They recess till the first week in October in 3 weeks and there is no way to add more cases now. Besides that, this is a state case and the high court has to allow state courts to review the case first. The law and rules of the court are the same for a presidential candidate as they are for any other felon convicted in state court.

My understanding is the case first goes to a district court in Manhattan which is just a formality but will take months. From there it goes to a state appeals court and then the New York Supreme Court. If there are ground for a federal appeal, it will go to a US Court of Appeals and from there to the Supreme Court. Of course the Supreme Court may refuse to hear the case. The high court only reviews about 6% of cases of this type. The chance of a New York court reviewing the case before the election is nearly zero. This case could be in the courts for years.

I'd LOVE to be the judge in this case. I'd definitely give him a 'JUST' sentence!!!

About as just as Al Capone's sentence for tax evasion!!!

No link, of course, and the Daily Mail is a Murdoch outlet.

Meanwhile.

Ten percent of Republican registered voters say they are less likely to vote for Donald Trump following his felony conviction for falsifying business records to cover up a hush money payment to a porn star, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll that closed on Friday.

Among independent registered voters, 25% said Trump's conviction made them less likely to support him in November, compared to 18% who said they were more likely and 56% who said the conviction would have no impact on their decision.
That is something a lot of Trumpsters don't understand. Just because you are a republican does not mean you will automatically vote for Trump. I think we are going to see a lot of republicans not voting this year. Party loyalty only goes so far.

Same with Democrats. I can see where voter turnout will be lower for both parties this year -- but the nutty right will moronically claim that's evidence that Biden didn't get 81m votes in 2020.

Literally everyone understands that it was a sham trial.

No, everyone does not believe it was a sham trial. Trump has claimed the trial ridged just as he has called the election rigged with no evidence. His supporters will followed their leader. Within a week or so we will start seeing claims of Biden interference in the trial, jury tampering, and various reports of unethical conduct by the judge, prosecutors, and jury. And just like the election, the claims will have no substance.

That would depend on the state clamancy board.

It depends on whether or not Trump goes to jail. I thought the same thing, but was corrected. If Trump is not in jail, he's eligible to vote according to NY laws. Florida law observes voter eligibility in states where crimes were committed, in accordance with those state's laws.

The American people. (That does not include the Anti-American MAGGOTS)
You are wrong if you think marginalizing opponents in terms of unpleasant

I think Republicans as well as Democrats and Libertarians will usher President Trump back into t he White House in the upcoming election. :)

That might have been the case before that joke of a trial in New York, Flopper but what just took place in Juan Merchan's courtroom was SO egregious it's going to bring most of those Republicans who WOULDN'T have voted for Trump to the polls TO vote for him! I don't think you on the left have any idea how fair minded people are viewing what just took place. You see it as a win for Democrats and I think you're DEAD wrong!

LOL...within a week? Dude, those claims have been going on for months! Are you kidding me?

I think Republicans às well as the American people in general are quite intelligent enough to vote for Trump because he has been a leader who loves all the American people. Go, The Donald!!!
