Let's put something into perspective. The coalition and Iraq have been heading in a direct path to Mosul by taking out town after town, city after city and big swaths of territory. The Kurds have been doing the same thing, battle after battle on a path to Mosul. So, after a year of slugging it out on the way to Mosul, Trump thinks a surprise attack was the way to go, as if ISIL didn't know their last and final holdout would be a target.

Wrong. To actually put things in perspective:

You never ever ever never EVER let the enemy know Anything about how when or where you intend to attack.
The one, and only, exception to that is if you are actually intending to attack elsewhere. This has been a maxim in the military for as long as there have been maxims and militaries world wide.
Giving an enemy with which your nation is at war information about the military-especially planned troop movements and even more especially attacks-is treason. Those who commit treason during time of war are subject to facing a firing squad. And rightly so. The way the health Nazis have things these days they probably won't even offer a final smoke. Maybe just a blindfold.

The Obama administration has never seemed to grasp the concept of operational security and a lot of our boys have died because of that fault. Trump at least understands the concept.

But when it came to the push to their home island in 1945 Island hopping was no longer employed. Just like in Mosul, they knew where we were going to attack.

I prefer to leave it up to the experienced generals no matter how much Donald "The Lying Groper" says they have been decimated. He is a billionaire Frat boy with a heightened since of entitlement and he has very little knowledge of military matters.

That is correct broadly speaking but not specifically where and certainly not when or how which, for the most part, they had no counter for anyway.

I would also when generals are allowed to lead and they gained their rank through experience and knowledge instead of ass-kissing. In our system of government the politicians are allowed to dictate to the generals. Obama is C-in-C. That should say it all.
