Trump/Taliban Peace Agreement For Troop Withdrawal

The US and the Taliban have signed an "agreement for bringing peace" to Afghanistan after more than 18 years of conflict.

The US and Nato allies have agreed to withdraw all troops within 14 months if the militants uphold the deal.

President Trump said it had been a "long and hard journey" in Afghanistan. "It's time after all these years to bring our people back home," he said.

Talks between the Afghan government and the Taliban are due to follow.

Under the agreement, the militants also agreed not to allow al-Qaeda or any other extremist group to operate in the areas they control.

Things don't currently look good in Afghanistan. What do you think?
Dont care. But it was funny listening to your boy biden say that afghan's 300k troops would defeat the taliban

Nice try. Fucktard Biden is Commander in Chief. Anything Trump put together was null and void the day Biden became President.

That isn't how the US Government works. The President isn't a king. I know, in your fantasy world, everyone gets to do whatever they want to. FREEDOM!!

But in reality, that has never been true, not in the history of the human race. See, the way the government is set up, the primary function of the Executive office is to enforce the existing laws. It also negotiates agreements with foreign countries then upholds those agreements. Congress writes the laws, not the Executive branch. The President doesn't just do whatever he fucking feels like cuz he woke up in a mood that day.

In the U.S. we have this habit of honoring agreements signed by previous administrations. It creates continuity and is why other countries are willing to work with us. We don't change the rules every election cycle.

And the Afghanistan government was well aware that the U.S. was leaving Afghanistan. It didn't just suddenly happen. In fact, there have been numerous troop reductions over the last 20 years.

So which is it? Trump is a moron for signing an agreement to leave or Biden is a genius for leaving Afghanistan? Or is it that Trump and Biden are brilliant for same idea to leave Afghanistan? Or they are both morons for their stupid decision to leave?

Are you unable to hold two thoughts in your head at the same time or are you just disingenuous?

Trump was to withdraw US forces from Afghanistan, but lacked the courage and conviction to do so.

President Biden had the courage and conviction, and made the difficult choice to end America’s involvement in a failed, illegal war where the Afghan government and military had no intention of becoming self-sufficient.

Sounds about right.

Funny that maybe the best thing Trump ever did for America is the thing the Trumpbots want to forget the most. It sucks for Afghanistan though. At least Biden had an idea what withdrawing from Afghanistan meant.
The Soviet Union looked at Afghanistan as a potential part of a route to the Indian Ocean. China may be frothing at the mouth to entice Afghanistan as it gives them access to Iran and the Indian Ocean in that area. There is a small strip between Pakistan and another nation that China may have access to Afghanistan.

I think the Fucktard screwed the pooch since he left Americans stranded in Kabul, and allowed the Taliban to free thousands of Al Qaeda and ISIS fighters that were being held at Bagram Air Base, instead of ensuring that the Taliban went by the agreement....

Then to top it off, the Pervert-in-Chief let the Taliban have our military equipment!!!

But you can't say the Magical Muslim Faggot didn't warn us about Biden!!!!

What was that other place he and obuthole left Americans to die? Oh yeah... Benghazi.

The border and pipelines are in the mix also. I would hope this is not another ploy to get us again in another war over there at some point. There is always the idea of many of the nations to also having their Caliphate.

Trump didn't fully pull out because he was smart enough to know what is happening would happen. Biden, like all you stupid libs, is too stupid to see that. Idiot.

A simplistic and rather ignorant statement. ANYTHING that the previous POTUS does has ramifications into the next elected leader's term. A rallying point that "they (the USA) went back on their word" wouldn't be out of the question. Why don't you try actually reading the article for details instead of these willfully ignorant MAGA knee jerk reactions? Couldn't hurt.

It's always someone else's fault when you fascists fuck everything up.

Pathetic.

Of course it is. You kids are absolutely desperate to find something bad to blame on him and this thing has you literally foaming at the mouth.

Every year, Pew Research polls policy attitudes. Pew asked the same question when Bush was in office and when Obama was in office.

When Bush was in office, it was a great policy. Guess how they answered when Obama took office?

Oh, and of course, the "Obama phone" program started under Reagan.

You may be onto something.

It was a Nazi who started this thread, desperately trying to blame the complete clusterfuck that Quid Pro created on the last legitimate President.

You fuckers never take responsibility for your actions - EVER.

So you just blame your own fuckups on those you don't like?

Quid Pro fucked it all up.
translation: another willfully ignorant/intellectually impotent right wing wonk's attempt to be "clever" by blowing smoke over his obvious refusal to acknowledge facts that disprove his contentions. Pity for this uncensored stupidity not realizing the chronology of the posts will always be their undoing.

The Obama administration negotiated the Paris Climate Accords... Trump's believed it was a bad deal for Americans... his hands weren't "tied"... He 86'd it.

Obama negotiated the Iran Deal ... Trump thought it sucked and said fuck that shit. We're not doing that. In other words...he did what he believed needed to be done regardless of what the last guy did.

Biden is weak and incompetent no matter how you slice it.

At least C_Clayton_Jones sees the obvious...that there is no way out for Biden by blaming Trump.

But his solution is equally damning...claiming Biden left hundreds of thousands in harm's way INCLUDING AMERICAN CITIZENS with no warning and no contingency plan.

Ahh, but YOU want to SOLELY blame one person and PRETEND that any/everything done by the previous administration just magically goes away.

your historical myopia is fascinating....but seriously flawed.

For your education:

Trump’s New Big Lie: Afghanistan

First, the “peace accord” that Trump’s emissaries signed with the Taliban in February 2020, in Doha, imposed only a few conditions—and the Taliban are violating none of them at the moment. The Taliban merely agreed not to allow any “individuals or groups, including al-Qaida, to use the soil of Afghanistan to threaten the security of the United States and its allies.” The accord did not bar the Taliban from fighting Afghan government troops or from capturing Afghan provinces on its own.

Second, Trump’s claim that he had “discussions with top Taliban leaders” is overstated. A few days after the signing of the accord, on the phone, through an interpreter, he had a discussion with a leader, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, who was the Taliban’s delegate to the Doha talks. Afterward, Trump said he had a “very good” relationship with Baradar, lauded the Taliban for “killing terrorists…some very bad people,” and said of the war, “They’re looking to get this ended and we’re looking to get this ended.” A statement released by the White House said that Trump “emphasized the need to continue the reduction in violence” and “urged the Taliban to participate in intra-Afghan negotiations.” The statement said nothing about Barader’s reply, if any.
