The Security Fence Act was badly needed which is why democrats supported it. At the time we had hundreds of miles of border that had only a single cable marking the border, with no barrier at all. Why they rallied behind H.R. 6061 which called for construction of 700 miles of fencing and surveillance technology including drones, ground sensors, radar and satellites, not to mention advanced tech cameras. The data simply does not support the the need for a 20 to 30 billion dollar 10 year project of wall building and certainly doesn't support the need for a national emergency.
