Trump wants to scrap program that feeds 40 million kids in FOREIGN countries

US investments have contributed to the largest reductions in extreme poverty ever recorded in human history,” chief executive Carrie Hessler-Radelet said. “The Administration’s proposed budget cut to lifesaving health, food security, and humanitarian programmes will compromise the development gains of recent years and weaken our own security and global leadership.”

And aside from the humanitarian issues inherent in cancelling a major food aid programme, several of the countries served by McGovern-Dole are strategic allies of the United States, noted Kimberly Flowers, the director of the Global Food Security Project at the Center for Strategic and International Studies. Kenya and Ethiopia border Somalia, the base for the militant group al-Shabab. Boko Haram, another militant group, began in Nigeria and has since ventured out to other countries in West Africa.

The United States doesn’t need those countries only as partners in the war on terrorism, Flowers said, it also needs their civil societies to remain stable. That’s undermined by issues like food insecurity.

Good article.

We are the most despised people on the planet. Clearly, we are doing something wrong. Meanwhile, China is grabbing Africa.

these damn foreign countries will never feed their kids as long as we do it for them. Go trump.

Trump plans to scrap programme that has fed 40 million of world's poorest children

march 21 2017 Former senator Bob Dole, a pillar of the Republican Party and a staunch supporter of President Trump during his campaign, has accused the president of threatening “one of the proudest achievements of my lifetime” - by cutting a programme that has provided school meals to more than 40 million children in some of the world's poorest countries.

The McGovern-Dole Food for Education Program, a bipartisan aid enterprise championed by Dole and his Democratic Senate colleague George McGovern in the early aughts, was a casualty of the White House budget proposal released last Thursday.

Since 2003, McGovern-Dole has provided school meals in 40 of the world's most impoverished nations, including several that are currently approaching famine
It's not a good look for the Trumpies to jet set to his " Florida White House" in its opulent setting and then cut food programs for kids ANYWHERE. Does it really matter where they're from? Don't all kids need to eat? If their governments aren't doing the job, just let them starve?
Take a few less vacations you worthless bastards so some kids can eat.
The fact that this has become debatable shows what a sick climate has been fostered in Trump's America..
If these families in foreign countries cannot feed their children they have too many children. The solution is to take the weakest child and feed it to to other children. If they still cannot feed their children take the next weakest and most frail and feed that child to the stronger children. Eventually the family will reach the point where it can afford to feed their children without turning any other children into breakfast sausage. And all of the surviving children will be strong and healthy.

When you send food to africa the blacks just have more kids. Africans cannot plan ahead. That average IQ of 68 is a killer.
This Was the Republican Abolitionists' Goal and It Didn't Work Then Either

Notice that they are so lazy and incompetent that the economic traitors don't even outsource to Africa to set up cheap-labor sweatshops. They learned their lesson from our Civil War.

How do you turn a Somali into a tamale?
Give his brother a fork.

We could very well be, but I'm guessing it isn't for the above type of foreign aid but the foreign interventions, like below.

"Ancient History": U.S. Conduct in the Middle East Since World War II and the Folly of Intervention

As the United States finds itself in the aftermath of another crisis in the Middle East, it is worth the risk of opprobrium to ask why there should be hostility toward America in that region. Some insight can be gained by surveying official U.S. conduct in the Middle East since the end of World War II. Acknowledged herein is a fundamental, yet deplorably overlooked, distinction between understanding and excusing. The purpose of this survey is not to pardon acts of violence against innocent people but to understand the reasons that drive people to violent political acts.[2] The stubborn and often self-serving notion that the historical record is irrelevant because political violence is inexcusable ensures that Americans will be caught in crises in the Middle East and elsewhere for many years to come.

Snowflakes USED to say the United states is not the world's 'policeman'. Of course that was before Obama 'lost' Iraq, and dragged the US into 2 un-Constitutional wars in Libya and Syria (as well as combat missions into Yemen...not bad for a Nobel PEACE Prize Winner)...

...but I guess we are supposed to be he world's sole 'food supplier'?!

Don't get me wrong - I am all for helping needy nations. The problem is how politicians (especially the Democrats / Obama the last 8 years) have been doling out record amounts of US tax dollars to Mexican Drug Cartels, to terrorists - like Hezbolla, Al Qaeida, ISIS, The Muslim Brotherhood, and Iran...flat out lying to the American people and stealing billions to give to the UN for Global initiatives (as Obama did while claiming the money was for Zika here at home) just before he left office.

We have homeless, hungry, those without health care, Vets in need, etc... and liberals / politicians want to put America's enemies and parasites in line in front of Americans.

Before another penny in tax rate is raised this stuff needs to be massively curtailed. It is not that America does not collect enough in taxes - it is that our politicians have been / are fiscally irresponsible with out money!

We are not despised. We are laughed at. For giving $300 billion in freebies to people who invade our country. We need to end that and also end all foreign aid.

If china grabs africa you can bet they will let all the africans starve.

Good point. Stopping people from dying doesn't fit in with the modern alt-right agenda the leaders of the GOP are trying to push.
Libs believe their policies will defeat death.

On a serious note, Libs also want to prop up dictators and war lords with tax payer money. I guess that is why Obama campaigned for the war lord, Odinga.

Trump endorsed that guy.

Do we really feed 40 million foreign kids or do we feed crooked bureaucracies who are supposed to feed kids? Why is the U.S assume the responsibility for 40 million foreign kids anyway? Didn't Germany just tell Trump that they didn't owe any money to NATO? Drain the freaking swamp.

Echoes of a Prehistoric Horror

Just the opposite of what the OPEC-bribed histwhorians preach. Our interventions prevented the perpetual jihad from conquering the world.

Prehistorically, these tribes were always the enemies of human progress. Only fugitives from justice would have chosen the desert, the mountains, and the jungle to settle down in. Those hideouts are literally No Man's Land

Say OP, how much cash are you giving to the poor in foreign countries? Perhaps you can write some checks when after the program is scraped, take responsibility for your thought process.
