I don't know if this law should be repealed or not but maybe it shouldn't
The reason this law shouldn't be repealed is that a preacher has the right to say whatever he wants but not the right to do a political speech from his pulpit.
Politics and religion should be well detached :)

Tell that to the negro preachers.....remember MLK?

Yes, and tell it to the Calvinists who started the abolition movement both in the U.S., and internationally in Africa, India, and Asia, and forced the League of Nations membership to make it a matter of international law, despite the protests and sniveling from African, Arab, and other countries' governments in the 1920's. But all that is just another sordid example of ' Uppity White Xian Oppression', if one believes the usual narratives your average 'progressive' and neurotic pedo-friendly sexual fetishists spew out daily.

The "Johnson Amendment" CREATED a State Run Church. It is clearly unconstitutional and needs to go.

Wanna explain that one?

"Thou may say this. Thou shalt not say that"

How does it create a state run church? The tax exemption is to ANY church, be they Buddhist, Christian, Jewish, Muslim, etc. That isn't a state run church.

And, if they want to preach from the pulpit in favor of one party over another, they can do so, they just lose their tax exempt status.

The 501.3c code isn't even written for churches, it's about types of charities and the like, yet another reason these silly 'outrages' are so stupid and retarded.

The problem is that the Democratic Party has managed to convince a lot of ignorant uneducated people into believing that just because some hacks think homosexual fetishists are some sort of minority, like blacks, are a political issue then by extension ministers and the like are suddenly prohibited from saying anything about it, and have convinced the same demographic that the IRS code says they can't, and that the IRS has some sort of power to tax them if they do. It's utter nonsense, and frankly just stupid and ridiculous 'logic'. Churches and religious people have always been involved in politics; even the establishment clause itself is derived from one of the founding platforms of a religious sect, the Baptists. See Thomas Helwys for its origin. You would have to remove our entire Constitution and body of law to eliminate 'religion' here, so it's just a another fake issue for both left and right wing cranks.

See the reference to the Fordham Law article I posted earlier, for a short backgrounder on how silly bureaucratic law has gotten re the establishment clause. Meanwhile, don't anybody hold their breath waiting for the IRS to swoop down on any pastors or churches for speaking out on any moral or social issue, despite what their weirdo Hive operators keep telling you.

EXACTLY.

Where did you get such a crazy idea?
Why crazy? :dunno:
To me religion should not be mixed with politics.
I mean you can follow a religion and be a politician but you should not convert your religious precepts into laws :)

Our Establishment clause merely prevents the Federal government from establishing a favored sect, like say Anglican or Methodist or whatever; it didn't prevent states from having one, and indeed most did; their state favored churches had the power to tax, though it was limited in most cases to paying for schools and education. The last state to amend their Constitution and dis-establish their state church special status was Massachusetts, in 1833; immigration diluted the power of state churches to maintain their taxing powers.

It also didn't prevent the Federal government from using tax money to aid in socially useful activities. There is more, but it's another thread by itself.

The IRS guidelines are available at the IRS website, and there are other sections of the Code worth reading up on, and they're all inter-related, 501A, 800.xxx, 600.xxx, and so on. Also so the restriction on pursuing or even auditing churches for more enlightenment on the IRS and churches.

Nobody has a problem with them shutting down con artists and fraud schemes, especially Christians, they should, and it's easy to spot those. A bunch of homos trying to censor and shut down their Rights scam isn't a legitimate form of harassment, and should be mocked and ignored.

I would bet Viet Nam's and even Red China's legal codes are rife with ancient religious influences. All legal codes are in some way originated from theological philosophies of one sort or another.

Honestly I don't know Picaro :eusa_think:
It's possible because you can find some religious principles in disguise in some laws
Officially our codes are from Socialist principles...:dunno: (even if there is almost no Socialism here anymore...)
