“Black activists cannot tolerate the fact that slavery ended because of white sacrifices. This wasn’t the fault of the slaves. They were scarcely in a position to help themselves, but the reality is that whites ended slavery, and gratitude has been replaced with erasure.“

So you want gratitude that whites don’t keep you as a slave anymore

Get back to me if you ever get around to a point.

It was about preserving the Union, but as the article pointed out some on the left are trying to do some shall we say a tap dance around other facts of the war.
Preserving a Union that held Southern states at a disadvantage.

All those Union soldiers killed was not real? Then again you are crack head leftist loon.
Yeah, that's what I was talking about.

in the name of wokeness and or dimbulb political correctness.
Wokeness?

“..but the reality is that whites ended slavery, and gratitude has been replaced with erasure.”

Whites enslaved Blacks, maintained the institution of slavery and fought to keep it. So..yes, they also fought to end it. So did Blacks.

Gratitude is nice and always appreciated but demanding gratitude from the race that was enslaved to the race that enslaved them seems a bit patronizing.

Saying the Civil War was not about slavery is both wrong and right. Most southerners did not own slaves and they were more concerned about States Rights. However, if there wasn't any slavery, there wouldn't have been a civil war and the states would still have their rights.

The south seceded over slavery
