Today a story came out where the NAACP is considering a lawsuit against our water department. When people don't pay their water bill, the city adds it to their property tax. If they can't pay it, eventually the bank will foreclose on the loan. Their contention is that it targets blacks because those are the people that it mostly affects.

Well duh. If blacks don't pay their water bill, then of course they are going to be victims of this collection process. But the NAACP says it has something to do with racism. Blacks are the majority in Cleveland Ohio. It's ridiculous already.

Interesting. My maternal history began in Ohio, especially, Dayton and Cleveland.

My great-aunt's husband was/is very much an uncle to me. I'm his namesake, they had no children. Anyway, I found his father by the same name joined the Confederate army at 15 years of age, 1861. Cleveland developed a postal stamp after him, he became very involved in Cleveland affairs. Worth noting he was very proud of his service, and he later registered Republican. My uncle was a stage actor, coolest dude in town man, you should see his scrap books. He was very wise and happy.

My great-grandmother was Polish. She preferred to be known as Austrian though, due to German occupation where she was a slave. She hooked up with a Russian (or Belarus) immigrant in St. Louis. They spent many years in Ohiio, then moved west where they did well in construction and real estate.

Without a doubt. However I"m going back to the 60's. Back then was an entirely different time. I think most immigrants came to this country pretty much uneducated. But you are correct, Polish people are very intelligent.

I remember this neighbor we had growing up. When she got here at five years old, she didn't know a word of English. My sister (with the help of my mother for translation purposes) taught her English. She went back to her family and relayed what she learned. Eventually she began to speak with a heavy accent, and by an adult, had no accent at all. She studied hard because her father was obsessed with eduction for his children. She went on to become a doctor, and I believe still practices today as a gynecologist.

Bill Gates was a very smart guy, but nobody advanced technology in the computer world more than Steve Wozniak. Back then, we Apple users used to laugh at the new PC version of Apple which they called Windows. We laughed because all Windows did was turn your PC into a Mac.

They come through once in a while. Years ago the leaders of our city got greedy and nosey. They wanted to inspect my apartments every three years even if they were occupied. I contacted the ACLU and they wrote back that I have no say in that, but my tenants would have a case against the city for violating their Fourth.

When the time came, one of my tenants were outraged, and I explained that they could sue the city if they wanted. I wrote my Councilman and forwarded the letter from the ACLU and warned him if he didn't get them to change the law, my tenant was going to contact the ACLU and go forward with the suit.

They changed the law. The ACLU has an endless amount of money, and the people in my city knew that if the ACLU is willing to take the case, it would cost us a lot of money and they'd still lose.
