Unfettered Capitalism

I absolutely don't want politicians "turning a recession around" or "promoting economic growth" or "creating jobs" or "stimulating the economy" or any of the horseshit they're always trying to take credit for. The economy should be left to "we the people". Government has no business meddling.
Fine, but what's the alternative?
The alternative is government NOT meddling. Isn't that obvious?
You have two alternatives to vote for, moron. Which one is the closest to what you want?

*sigh* - THAT tired nonsense? You limit yourself to two alternatives because you've bought the party line.
What's the other alternative?
The alternatives are endless. You don't have to vote for a shitty leader. True story™.
Name one.

Tom Albertson.
Never heard of him.
Guy that lives down the street from me. Smart dude. And not an asshole. He'd be way better than either Biden or Trump.
Well, that’s a given. There has to be millions of Americans that would be better than either of the two dumb asses.
Exactly, yet we stupidly constrain ourselves to voting for one of the two dumb asses.

It's because the country is many times richer than it ever has been. How many people had a 65 inch flat screen TV in 1980? Smart phone? Computer?
65 inch flat-screens and smart phones hadn't entered the market in 1980; how many Americans were facing eviction by the end of that year?

"According to a recent study published by The Aspen Institute, 30 to 40 million Americans will be at risk of eviction over the next several months."

Yet, neither of the dementia twins offers anything to help these Americans.

We live in a failed state.

The first government didn't exist until about 3500 BCE. Furthermore, Jericho was established in 9000 BCE. People where living in settlements in the the fertile crescent for thousands of years before the first governments were established.
When did governmental authority begin in Jericho?

Early Jericho.

"Jericho started as a popular camping ground for the hunter-gathers of the Natufian culture dating to 10000 BCE.

"It wasn’t until the cold and drought caused by the last Ice Age, or Younger Dryas, came to an end around 9600 BCE that year-round habitation and permanent settlements began in the area.

"Tell es-Sultan (Sultan’s Hill), 2 kilometers (1.2 miles) north of modern-day Jericho, became the earliest permanent settlement.

"It was a Pre-Pottery Neolithic (New Stone Age) settlement. It is situated on the Ein as-Sultan spring (later called Elisha’s Spring) supplying it with water.

"By about 9400 BCE the settlement grew to include more than 70 homes. These circular dwellings measured 5 meters (16 feet) in diameter and were built with clay and straw."

So where does it say "government authority" began?

Yep, 65 inch flat-screens and smart phones hadn't entered the market in 1980. Capitalism made that possible. Do you believe people never get evicted in other countries?

Why do you keep trying to blame Trump for COVID?

Liberals love this phrase. Maybe I have a limited vocabulary, but I wasn't really sure what "fettered" meant. So I looked it up:

fetter.jpg

Any questions?

Unfettered means unrestrained or unlimited. Clearly that is not what capitalism is in this country, did you think otherwise?

I just wanted to provide a visual of what liberals want: fettered capitalism. People in chains.

How odd that progressive liberals do not realize the alternatives to capitalism are far more restrictive. Capitalism is all about choice more than anything else, and any other economic model is more about govt's choice rather than your own. In capitalism you get to decide what you will buy among many options and how much you pay for it. Every other system has much fewer options and directly or indirectly the govt decides how much you pay.
We no longer have capitalism in the US. The government determines which corporations will be kept alive with taxpayer bailout money and which corporations will die. See: The Great Recession

Worse, the federal government tilts the playing field through the tax code. To wit, which companies get tax breaks and which ones don't. It all depends on how much the companies donated to their war chests.

Even more sneaky is the creation of regulations which prevent up-and-comers from breaking into the market which would create competition against the sclerotic and zombie companies being protected by the federal government.

So right. It’s a racket the Costra Nostra could only dream of.

Amazingly millions of Americans can’t see the racket.

Nevertheless, dumbasses like you vote for politicians who like to regulate.

I voted for Trump dip shit, but I’m done voting. It clearly means nothing.

Can you see the racket? I suspect not, since you stupidly think D politicians like to regulate. They are no different than your beloved Rs, but you can’t see the truth Dummy.

I'm glad you aren't voting because you're obviously an idiot. Trump cut regulations by about 1/3.

And in addition, we now have a Federal Reserve that is as important to the economy as the consumer.

Welcome to Capitalism 2.0, The Self-Inflicted Wound.

And the ignorant Trumpsters wonder why Socialism is becoming so popular. Trumpsters have no respect for the strengths and weaknesses of capitalism. They're like a toddler holding a loaded pistol.

The socialists should be sending them Thank You cards.

You think cutting regulations is a good thing, yet call me an idiot. You are totally blind to what’s going on. Partisans always are.

The meddling should be minimized. The "greatest good" is in the eye of beholder - the beholder being whoever has the most influence over government.
The greatest good in an economic sense would prioritize the majority of workers over shareholders and owners. Markets, money, and corporations are created by government.

Capitalism uses government to structure economic activity in specific ways that benefit a small minority of owners, shareholders, and executives over a majority of citizens.

Unlike corporations, government can be changed democratically in ways to reverse the laws that effectively allow parasites like Elon Musk to grow richer at the expense of those who produce his wealth.

"SEPTEMBER 3, 2020
In the Worst of Times, the Billionaire Elite Plunder Working Class America"

"Car company Tesla forced all workers to take a 10 percent pay cut from mid-April until July. In the same period, Tesla stock skyrocketed, and CEO Elon Musk’s net worth has now quadrupled from $25 billion to over $100 billion.

"Business software company Salesforce announced record sales levels one day and layoffs of 1,000 workers the next. The company’s stock rose 26 percent."
