The National Mall holds 1 million people from the capitol steps past the National Monument to the Lincoln Memorial and INSIDE the rows of trees that line the park on each side.

All that white space you see in front of the Monument is EMPTY SPACE where people should be standing!

Not bad for a day of cold rain.

If it were just cold (as some inaugurals have been), people could put on heavy coats, cotton hoodies etc. to make up for it.

But on a rainy day, when no umbrellas are allowed on the Mall, you have to wear a raincoat - uncomfortable and not very effective. And your head is bound to get wet and clammy, with cold water trickling down the back of your neck.

And still half a million came, to endure that and see a President who isn't obsessed with his own legacy over all else, and isn't pushing plans already proven to not work.

You miss the major difference between the two events..... While both events fell on weekdays, Trump supporters have JOBS, and aren't necessarily available to jet into DC for the day. Obama supporters were largely college punks who were more than happy to skip classes and people who didn't have jobs or other responsibilities to keep them away.
