Vietnam War Hero: US Military Embarrassed to be Associated with Obama

Now the silver star on a Vietnam Vet means something to you folks?

Man, you guys seriously flip flop on crap.

Vietnam was lost at the negotiating tables in Paris.

Our guys never lost a battle in that country. The anti war crowd won that war for North Vietnam not the North Vietnamese. They lost it each and every time.

if the military experts are so good, why did they lose Vietnam?

We didn't lose Vietnam... actually, we were winning. Unfortunately, anti-American fucks like Cronkite chose to report is a total loss, thus demoralizing Americans and turning the tide against the effort ending finally with Congress defunding it.

You should put down the bong once and a while and try reading...

Actually, we were not.

Deflection to state the obvious, no.

Still a damned deflection.

Every times someone criticized your boy you bring up Bush.

Bout time you zero in on your boy and what he's trying to do. Bush hasn't been in office for five years. Barry is running the show and his amateur hour sucks big time.

Again. It Barry not Bush. Grow up.

okay, then let us use example in history, since that is what the General is doing~duh.
George Washington crossing the Delaware to attack the Hessians to gain a victory, that was a surprise attack.
Invasion of Normandy, surprise attack.
Invading Iraq (2) times not a surprise attack.
Yet we still won whether or not they were surprise attacks.

Still the past.

Try focusing on whats going on today with your boy.

Oh and BTW the Iraq war was no surprise. All Saddam had to do was comply with the UN resolutions and there would have been no Iraq war. God your an idiot.

So much for the advantage of amassed troop deployment advocated by the General.

On February 22, 1847, Santa Anna personally marched north to fight Taylor with 20,000 men. Taylor, with 4,600 men, had entrenched at a mountain pass called Buena Vista. Santa Anna suffered desertions on the way north and arrived with 15,000 men in a tired state. He demanded and was refused surrender of the U.S. Army; he attacked the next morning. Santa Anna flanked the U.S. positions by sending his cavalry and some of his infantry up the steep terrain that made up one side of the pass, while a division of infantry attacked frontally along the road leading to Buena Vista. Furious fighting ensued, during which the U.S troops were nearly routed, but managed to cling to their entrenched position. The Mexicans had inflicted considerable losses but Santa Anna had gotten word of upheaval in Mexico City, so he withdrew that night, leaving Taylor in control of part of Northern Mexico.

We didn't lose Viet Nam. The media was successful in turning public opinion against the war and we gave up and left. We never lost a single battle in Viet Nam. Walter Cronkite went to Viet Nam at the time we delivered a resounding loss to the Viet Cong in the Tet Offensive. Cronkite knew that if that victory became public, it would breathe new life into the war so he lied about it and said that we had suffered a devastating loss. After that, the Viet Cong knew that they didn't have to win. They just had to hold out until the American public won for them what they could not win for themselves.

The General is just a meglamanic like most career generals and seeks to promote his superior ideology that he thinks should be used, but history has proven him wrong many times..

I can relate to their embarrisment. The military pretty much embarrised me and the rest of the nation during Vietnam. Ol' "Light at the end of the tunnel" Westmoreland and LBJ had me walking around with a paper bag over my had for about 4 years.

We did the wrong thing, we tried to win a war of attrition and should have invaded North Vietnam and destroy the enemies base of operations and killed Ho Chi Men.

What!? If we had done that, they probably would not have "Favored Nation" trading status that they have today, and I would have had to buy my shirt from Walmart from one made in Pakastan, instead of Vietnam!

Just what I said in my post.

Our guys never lost one battle in Vietnam. The TET offensive was a huge loss for the North not our guys.

The anti war movement won that war for North Vietnam not their military. Their military couldn't compete with ours and they knew it. They just had to hang on till the anti war movement in the US really took hold. They gained a victory but it wasn't because they beat our military. Thats something they never did.

Winning a war means that you destroy the enemy -was the Viet Cong destroyed, no.
Winning a war means that you also take their country and occupy it, did we, no.

Well on the bright side, the US managed to kill like 3 million people in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia.

Maybe conservatives consider that a "win".

Wow!

Reading "alternative History" on this site is fascinating! We in the South did not lose the Civil War, either. The Yankees just outflaned us at Petersburg. It was a temporary setback, but by 1880 we had driven them all back to north of the Mason-Dixon line...

We repelled the Tet Offensive. We had the Viet Cong on the run. They fled into surrounding countries, including China. But the bureaucrats in Washington would not allow us to pursue into Laos and Cambodia. That allowed them to wage in guerrilla warfare from across the border! And then China decided to help them. We were the superior military force, all the statistics bear that out. We didn't lose Vietnam, Washington lost it for us. We were still the superior force when Saigon fell.

Yes because given another 15 years..the US probably could of exterminated every human being and animal in Vietnam

That would have learned them..
