Virginia women protest "state mandated rape"

I promise you that the intent is to save their children from their decisions, saving the women as well is just a natural by-product.

if you were concerned with the "children", you'd be demanding head start programs. you'd be demanding job training and day care. you'd set up networks of rightwing anti choice uber religious zealots to adopt them.

it's BS... your concern dies the second people are born.

and please don't "save" anyone until you "save" yourself.

Are you aware that there ARE head start programs, there ARE job training programs, and there ARE day cares?

YOU acting as if women have abortions because those helps aren't available is laughable.

You have to look at it from a young, unmarried woman who is considering abortions perspective

If she can't afford prenatal care, can't afford daycare, can't give up the income to care for a child.........don't complain if she chooses to abort

naaa, that would be too much...

Have you seen all the cuts to social programs the GOP have pushed through the last few years? You can't cut off welfare and then force poor people to have kids. You can't have it both ways. If you are going to force poor people to become parents, you must be prepared to pay more in taxes for things like SCHIP free Heatlhcare, school lunches, grants, foodstamps and welfare.

The Republicans have been gutting these programs and throwing people off welfare. Making abortion even more necessary than ever.

Oh, I'm sorry is Jillian a poor , uneducated single pregnant woman?

Let me as you this. Would be for mandating that women who are considering abortion meet with a counselor who can explain to them that there is help out there? Otherwise not knowing is no excuse.

It is what it is, a choice, and morally repugnant as I find it, I don't favor making abortion illegal. My only real issue with abortion that i think the law should address is that a woman can just choose one way or another and the father is left at her mercy in terms of either not having a baby he might want or having to pay child support for a child he may not want.

//end of that line of discussion.

here's a clue little one...It's NOT the Governments (us taxpayers) JOB to support all these PEOPLE...
gawd, back in the day people were ASHAMED to admit they sponged off the Government(us taxpayers)...NO DAMN PRIDE left in this country

wrong. Look in the thread for the linked HR bill. No specification of the type of ultrasound is made. You're either stupid, or a liar. Which is it?

I vote both.

For an ultrasound for someone under 12 weeks pregnant the probe on the belly is ineffective. It must be done vaginally

Not true, but I do thank you for trying to support the stupid lies being spouted by Josef. An abdominal ultrasound can be used as early as 3 weeks after gestation to detect pregnancy and is commonly used at 5-7 weeks. The transvaginal utrasound is only able to be used a week earlier than an abdominal one. That would mean that, at most, a patient would have to wait a week in order to avoid the transvaginal ultrasound if she had some sort of objection to a doctor inserting something into her vagina. For the life of me I cannot figure out how that woman is going to get an abortion without a doctor getting inside her, but I never accused anyone who is opposing this because of being penetrated of having any common sense.

How early can a pregnancy be seen on an ultrasound? - Pregnancy Articles

Please try to stick to facts in your opposition to stupid laws, not doing so only bolsters the case for them.

That doesn't help her with her decision does it?

She is already pregnant and she has a tough decision to make. Why do conservatives make it harder for her to decide to keep the baby?

Well if the taxpayer is going to leave an unwed mother with no other options she will have to choose to abort in order to save the taxpayer the trouble won't she?

hey, they want to kill off their "unwanted" mistake..they can PAY FOR IT themselves. like you all are now worried about children, after 50 million have already been sucked from this country through abortion.

Why Right-Wingers' Hatred of Modern Women Is Going to Cost Them the Birth Control Battle (and a Whole Lot of Votes)

Conservatives are going wildly off-message when it comes to the fight over contraception.

The rights visceral impulse to shame women for being in control of their own sexuality is so overwhelming that they appear to be totally incapable of maintaining their usual message discipline. That's going to cost them the fight over contraception.

The polling: Overwhelmingly people say employers should provide their workers with insurance that covers birth control. 2-1 said yes. So 66% to 33%.

Rick Santorum, a contender for the Republican presidential nomination, said, “One of the things I will talk about that no president has talked about before is... the dangers of contraception in this country,

Last week, Santorum's fat-cat backer, Foster Fliess, made waves with his comment about how back in his day, “they used Bayer aspirin for contraceptives. The gals put it between their knees, and it wasn't that costly.” If those women would just keep their legs closed, we wouldn't be having this discussion!

New Hampshire state rep Jeanine Notter, a Tea-Party legislator, claimed that birth control causes prostate cancer, and in Utah, Republican rep Bill Wright sponsored legislation “that would prohibit schools from teaching teens about contraception.”

The claim that this battle has nothing to do with shaming emancipated women simply holds no water at a time when Virginia is poised to become the third state to mandate that women seeking an abortion undergo a painful and invasive procedure compelling them to “see” the fetus they have already chosen to abort. Slate's Dahlia Lithwick noted that “under any other set of facts, that would constitute rape under state law,” but wingnuts like Dana Loesch responded that these women "had no problem having similar to a trans-vaginal procedure when they engaged in the act that resulted in their pregnancy."

Over the past three months pollsters have seen a dramatic, 18-point swing from Romney to Obama among unmarried women, and the president now leads the supposedly “moderate” contender by a stunning 65-30 margin among that group. When it comes to this bizarre fight over contraception, social conservatives are proving to be their party's own worst enemies.

there is such a thing called, adoption..but I guess that is too hard on the mothers when they can just have it sucked out in a few minutes.

And you value life? You would kill an actual human for cutting a seed out of their womb? What a freak. Obsess much?

My saying is, anyone who forces a woman to have a child when she doesn't want one, should be shot.

And since that kid is going to have a tough childhood because you cut his mom off from welfare and any other social programs that help the poor, I hope it is him or her that shoots you.

We pay for abortions because if we don't, we'll pay more in welfare. Necessary evil my friend. You admit you won't help and we can't force poor people to have kids they can't afford.

And no one is going to stop fucking. Sorry. Go back to church and pray for this.

Fucking laughable. Women who are in control of their own sexuality make sure they don't get pregnant in the first place. With the exception of course of rape and or the occasional birth control failure.

Adoption is a great option for some people. But for some, abortion is the only answer. I could give you a million scenerios where adoption is not an option but it doesn't matter because you should mind your own fucking business and I'll ignore that your priests molest young alter boys.
