Walmart Employees Getting a Raise

A little wage rate competition would be a good thing! Here's to hoping that upward pressure on wage rates makes it's way to the professional ranks as well. Maybe we'll elect some people that will end H1b visas.
The way to get wage rate competition is to have a roaring economy where there is very little unemployment.
THEN companies pay better wages because there is few people and many job openings.

The market/economy sets the wages".

Except, it seems, for the bottom rung where the federal gov't fiddles. The thing is, many bottom union job rates are based on the min wage (min wage +) and other union wages are then based on those bottom job rates. Unions are busting for higher federally mandated minimum because it would up the entire union scale. True story.

The federal gov't is also "fiddling" in the wages of all IT & Engineering jobs in this country, through the H1B visa program. We have millions on millions of foreign workers who were brought here for the express purpose of lowering middle class American wages.. oh yeah then after training these foreign workers they take our jobs to their third world countries.

Blah blah blah, but their salary is still less than practical minimum wage and of course smaller than 25.000$.
It means that Wal-mart officials just spit in the face of their workers.
Only government can solve this problem, but it's sad that they will never do anything with this!
God damn you are a stupid kid

Well you get the picture, I thought it was weird but interesting. The Government of a country like Australia got so Entangled with the private Business they decide what a persons skills should be paid, not the companies bottom line.

I think it kills startup small Business
It kills innovation, it kills competition.

And diminishes everyone to the Lowest Common Denominator (Worker's Paradise) which seems why some here promote it ... they are the LCD.

Yup read so much about every damn company in silicon valley being blood brothers keeping IT workers and the like wages low and their Special interest groups in Washington getting low paid smart workers from places like India and Saudi Arabia

Oh Gawd, let's not even discuss Walmart. It's a Third World Shitehole. It's by far the most miserable shopping experience known to man. I'll gladly pay higher prices just to avoid the Third World dirty stinky. What a nightmare. My God, last time i shopped there i truly felt i was trapped in lawless Third World chaos.

For the most part, the people who shop there, are ignorant fugtards. Long lines, miserable over-worked/underpaid Employees, and all the stinky loons. No thanks, i'll pass. And Walmart is likely doing this only to try and keep States from increasing the Minium Wage to $10 an hr. Tryin to beat them to the punch and save a buck. I advise shopping somewhere else. If you wanna have some semblance of an enjoyable shopping experience anyway.

Yes... LCD is the reason forcing wage rages kills innovation and competition. It's the old story about the classroom where the teacher gave everyone a minimum grade no matter the effort, taken as a redistribution from the people who earned higher grades. Before you know it the entire class is a failure.

Why should the Liberals hate this? They're the one who shamed Wal Mart into paying their people a decent wage.

Sooo, you're saying you don't believe there are whiny, sniveling lefties like timslash who are sincere about their disdain for capitalism and America? You must have missed the page 1 posts of Odius, the self-described "Racial Socialist."

Perhaps instead of posting to the thread you should ask one of them directly. There is Odius, the self-described "Racial Socialist" on page 1, timslash here on page 11, and probably a shipload of 'em on the pages in between.

Could be true , but knowing and reading about the great Sam Waltons brats of kids they could have other motives.

I read a report that said $9. And they'll just cut the payroll anyway. They'll hire less and cut hours. Which in turn, will mean less customer service. And their Employees will still be over-worked and under-paid. They're absolutely miserable workers. They hate customers.

Walmart is a very unpleasant place to shop. It's dirty, stinky, loud, and most of the people who shop there are ignorant slobs. I'll gladly pay more to avoid Third World Misery.

Maybe the problem is the people of your town, not your walmart. The walmart in my town is clean, smells like a store, and most of the people who shop there are educated clean cut Americans.

They will be subsidized less but I do feel they should receive those subsidies as one can't pay one bill on $9 an hour. So its a win win. They get gov't assistance and make a little more so they can at least survive.

That would allow you to continue bitching about Walmart. I can't believe how much you liberals love to bitch about others.

Lucky you. That's an incredibly rare scenario. Walmarts are mostly filled with ignorant slobs. I can't fathom why anyone would consider shopping there an enjoyable shopping experience. It's more like misery. Long lines, exhausted miserable Employees, cheap shitty Chinese products, stinky & dirty stores, and all the loony fugloid shoppers. No thanks, i'll pass.

I never go there because I am a guy who hates parking a mile away and so hates lines,I will go to the local kmart or target instead, I Don't pay attention to prices if they have what I want I will buy it and get me out fast.

And a little heads-up for all you excited Walmart-Worshippers... Walmart will now simply hire less employees and cut hours. You'll get even less customer service than you already have. Which isn't much anyway. Their Employees are exhausted and miserable. They hate customers.

Once the stores become even more under-staffed, the Employees will become even more miserable. Sorry, but that's the reality. Shop somewhere else. Avoid the Third World chaos.

I beg to differ. Grandma and I shop there regularly. I also see an increasing amount of American made products there as well. But 'ignorant slobs?'

Stereotype much?
