Want gun control? Fight smart.

I've heard that bullshit argument before. You know AR-15's are faster and more powerful. Why are you lying?
You clearly no nothing about firearms, my God you are ignorant.
Sure, Mike, I'm sure there are guns faster and more powerful than an AR-15. They should be banned, also.
Many many people will not turn them in. I won't. Fascists like you want to start a war in this country, so go for it. I'm ready to volunteer.
Why can't you live without an AR-15 if you can keep your other guns?
No fascist, you cannot have gun control without taking all the rest. Even a fool would know that. Besides I don't have an AR, but any ban wont stop there so I wont turn in any guns.
That is bullshit. Assault weapons don't belong in civilian hands. Hunting and self protection are fine by me if the assault weapons are off the streets.
No one can prove you wrong because you aren't dealing with a fact. It doesn't make you right, though. No one can prove you right either.

Your arguments are all over the place. Try and collect yourself and maybe you could start focusing on one argument at a time

Dude, you just said you wanted to ban all kinds of them.
You dont know what you believe or want
Reading is fundamental.....
If they are faster and more powerful/deadly than AR-15's, they should be banned. That is not all the guns in existence, Mike. Even I know that.
The final thing I will say is you are either ignorant or a liar, or both. Most rifles are more powerful than an AR. So forget it. Start your war bitch.

The number of private citizens that legally owned/purchased the firearms the Assault Weapons Ban identified as "assault weapons" ... Doubled during the ban.
That's why it was allowed to expire ... Because it was so stupid all it accomplished was encouraging more people to purchase firearms the ban was supposed to limit.

Link?

How about you show me a link were the Assault Weapons Ban actually banned the purchase of what it identified as an assault weapon.
I can save you the time because it didn't ...

It forbid the purchase of a semi-automatic firearm that included more than one of the following items ...
Pistol grip, flash suppressor, folding stock, or grenade launcher.

Those components (while beneficial) are not essential parts of the firearm or mechanism.
All of them can be purchased and attached to the firearm aftermarket (except maybe the grenade launcher).

It didn't forbid the purchase of the core components of the firearm ... Because that would violate the Constitution.

Assault weapons don't belong in civilian hands, and that includes the AR-15. That focused enough?

This thread has become just another gun control thread. It started out as something very different. There are many approaches we can take to improve our chances of living through the day without being shot in America. I have listened to you folks, read the articles, Googled stuff you've taught me. I've thought about it. I get what you're saying. There are things we agree on, just not gun control. We can get stuff done via background checks, ERPO's, better FBI data base reporting, etc. We can focus resources on mental health services and prevention.
I get testy when I'm personally insulted; I'm no fucking saint. But trading insults with Mike and his ilk aren't going to solve shit. I'm guilty.

Sounds like it didn't go far enough, then.

So you WANT to violate the COTUS.

Well at least you are catching on.

I could agree that it didn't go as far as they led the public to believe.
It didn't go further because Congress isn't granted the power to go further without violating the Constitution.

It was a cheap ploy ... Intended to fool people into thinking they had actually done something.
Which is why no one tried to overturn it and it was simply allowed to expire.

Or perhaps because nearly 100% of guns now, including hunting rifles and handguns for self-protection are semi-automatic? Perhaps the reason certain items were outlawed was because they made the firearm more deadly? I wikied the assault weapons ban and read some of the outlawed stuff. A lot of guns were outlawed, actually, according to the list.
Since you won't give me a link, I'm not going to bother to give you mine, either. I'm just going to make assertions that sound good to me.

Just as I was about to walk away in total dejection and defeat. Thanks Doc.
A little help here would be better than a gold star, though.

The firearms the legislation "outlawed" and that the wiki mentioned ...
Are those that were manufactured with two or more of the items I identified earlier.

But what it doesn't indicate is that those weapons are at pre-ban manufacturing standards.
It doesn't indicate that the same firearm can be manufactured and then sold meeting the requirements.

If you unscrew the flash suppressor and sell it separately ... You are still buying the same core weapon.

You are smart ... You should understand things better and start asking yourself questions about what you think and why.
If you want me to give you an entire course on firearms manufacturing, marketing, failed government legislation and the Constitution ...
It's not my problem and you are more than free to remain blind.

yes, you can hunt with an AR15, but as we get talking, no one I've talked to actually uses one for hunting.
No surprise that. On several hunting enthusiast sites one finds lists of the editors' top pics for deer hunting.
Of all the rifles mentioned, only once is an AR-15 variant cited as among the best rifles for hunting deer.

I also checked a few sites/listings focused on big game hunting. Again, the AR-15 ilk of guns didn't appear.
So while one may or may not be able to use an AR-15-like rifle for hunting, there are plenty of alternatives up and down the the price spectrum.

AR-15s are not really good weapons for deer hunting. They are fine for smaller animals such as young hogs, wolves and coyotes.
:bsflag:
You do realize ARs are available in several cartridges? Btw .223 is a great deer round.. shit for brains

Nope, unless you're shooting at less than 100 yards, it is not a GREAT deer round. And, though I'm sure you felt like such a man for labeling me "shit for brains", all you really did is show your immaturity.

...
If it can fire dozens of bullets per minute into a crowd, we don't need it on the streets.

It doesn't mention that anywhere in the Second Amendment ...
You are going to have to change the Constitution if you are going to try and make it mean something it doesn't already.

.
There are different interpretations of the 2nd Amendment and I'm not a constitutional scholar, so I'm not going to get into it with you. However, I certainly don't think that EVERYONE believes as you do that the 2nd is an automatic stop sign forbidding regulation on gun ownership. You are stating an opinion as a fact.

What does "shall not be infringed" mean to you?
