Intelligence obtained by the CIA last summer found that Russian President Vladimir Putin personally ordered a cyber campaign intended to help elect Donald Trump and damage the electoral chances of Hillary Clinton, according to an exhaustive Washington Post report out Friday into the Obama administration’s response to Russia’s meddling in the 2016 campaign.

This explosive information was first delivered to former president Barack Obama in Aug. 2016, according to the newspaper.

The Post investigation details how Obama and his team struggled to develop a response to this unprecedented interference by a foreign country, worrying that they would be seen as trying to tip the scales in the presidential race. By the time the CIA’s warning arrived, the Obama White House knew that Russian hackers were behind cyberattacks on Democratic Party operatives and the Democratic National Committee, and that the FBI had launched an investigation into ties between Russian officials and Trump campaign staffers.

Trump, who has repeatedly cast doubt the extent of Russia’s interference, has criticized the Obama administration for not doing more to “stop them.”

Vladimir Putin has definitely backtracked this. He's no longer denying that Russia hacked into DNC databases, but recently stated that Russian party loyalists did it without his knowledge or consent. Everyone knows that he personally ordered it, because if they acted on their own he would have had their heads on a platter.

Vladimir Putin is a former KGB spy--and that's what he does best. I really don't think he realised at the time he ordered this done--the backlash that would be coming his way. Instead of bringing Russia closer to a friendlier relationship with the United States (which is what his goal was by helping Trump--and also to get sanctions lifted) he has launched Russia into another cold war with the United States.

Right now Putin's poll numbers in Russia are as bad as Trump's are here.

Here is what we know so far.

I thought I would make a thread on this and did my best to put it into chronological order as to what has gone on with this Russian investigation. I will continue to add to this thread as more information comes out.

First of all Richard Nixon wasn't personally involved in Watergate. He didn't authorize the breakin of the DNC office at Watergate and many within the higher up's said he knew nothing of the plot. It was the Coverup that took Nixon down. It was "All of the President's men" that were involved in Watergate.

Trump has much more going against him than Nixon did. He continually denied the intelligence coming out of the FBI, the CIA and the Department of Homeland security along with 14 other intelligence agencies. Arguing with Hillary Clinton on a debate stage when she stated that Russia was doing the hackings--and Trump stating that it could be some fat guy sitting on his bed doing it. After he was sworn in he still wouldn't admit it. At one point actually stating he knew people that knew more than our intelligence agencies and he would get back with us next week. Of course he never did. And he continually praised Vladimir Putin throughout the campaign season.

Intelligence obtained by the CIA last summer found that Russian President Vladimir Putin personally ordered a cyber campaign intended to help elect Donald Trump and damage the electoral chances of Hillary Clinton, according to an exhaustive Washington Post report out Friday into the Obama administration’s response to Russia’s meddling in the 2016 campaign.

This explosive information was first delivered to former president Barack Obama in Aug. 2016, according to the newspaper.

The Post investigation details how Obama and his team struggled to develop a response to this unprecedented interference by a foreign country, worrying that they would be seen as trying to tip the scales in the presidential race. By the time the CIA’s warning arrived, the Obama White House knew that Russian hackers were behind cyberattacks on Democratic Party operatives and the Democratic National Committee, and that the FBI had launched an investigation into ties between Russian officials and Trump campaign staffers.

Trump, who has repeatedly cast doubt the extent of Russia’s interference, has criticized the Obama administration for not doing more to “stop them.”
