War & Zelensky

You said:

"Cool, but they aren't Russians...they aren't in Russia."

Do you wish to withdraw your previous statement in error?
no they aren’t russian…they are ukrainians…maybe russian-ukrianian..like we have african-americans, or mexican-americans…unless of course they are there illegally or on some sort of visa, they are ukrainians

It didn't prevent jack shit...lol

Sure it did. the UK was not dragged into a war that it wasn't ready for and couldn't win.

They should have shown as much sense with Poland. Instead they wrote the Polish Colonels a blank check, Hitler signed an agreement with Stalin that supercharged his economy, and he overran western Europe.

That was stupid.

Let's imagine an alternative scenario. The UK and France sign the treaty with the USSR, but they also tell the Polish Colonels to negotiate in good faith on the Danzig Corridor, which rightfully belonged to Germany, anyway. The balance of power would have been maintained.

Instead, the fought a feckless war they weren't prepared for, most of Europe decided to throw in with the Nazis. That was dumb.

I don’t think so. The fundamental premise is that we were interfering in Ukraine to draw them away from Russian influence. That’s not the case. Ukraine is choosing to move away from Russian influence and the reason isn’t mysterious.

Attacking US policy of helping a country emerge from corrupt influence of an authoritarian state betrays the fundamental values of our country.
The only fundamental valves of the US, are controlling foreign nations for the benefit of big multinational corporations and billionaires.

i really don’t understand how this concept goes over your head and why you think it’s stupid to suggest one country can’t invade another because folks live there that used to live in the other
It’s become a common affliction for dumb Americans. They are now so use to the empire’s warring and imperialist actions for the benefit of a select few wealthy elites, they think it’s right.

Youre a shitty American. We need fewer cynical jerks like this.

Someday, if not through the head, then through the slaps of the masters, a simple and clear idea will reach the peoples of the former USSR, that They were separated only in order to, under the cries of Their Own Unique Path, Freedom and Independence, tear three skins from Them and trade Their property.
That's when the USSR will be back.

Thank you for that comment.! That has absolutely nothing to do with what I said. Are you looking to verify that you are dumber than a box of f-ing hammers to assuage your self-esteem?

Typical. Only good patriotic Americans believe their lying government. You do know this is a tactic used by fools like you throughout history, to silence descent or maybe not?

You’ll do well in our Orwellian dystopian near future.

Cynics contribute nothing other than misery.

Just for the record, this thread has zero (0) to do with American partisan politics, so perhaps we can have an interesting discussion.

Do we have anyone here who is up on Ukraine and its overall politics? From what I've seen, Zelensky is taking a pretty independent stance, in between Russia and US and its allies.

While everyone else appears to be waiting for the first bombs to drop, Zelensky remains defiant and doesn't appear to think war is imminent. He also seems to think that his job is pretty secure. If he's sweating, he sure doesn't seem to be showing it.

Any guesses about his strategy?

>>>>>> Facing maximum pressure from Russia, Zelensky refuses to blink at the negotiating table
Ukraine has been facing off with Putin for nearly a decade. They have no choice but to remain in the middle if they are to survive as an independent nation. I suspect his cool is to match the cool of Putin. No unforced escalation improves the chances that Putin will back down.
