Since polling data has shown that 4 out of 5 people polled support the use of the name, and since only 11% think it should be changed, I doubt this has much to do with liberal whiners. Which is exactly the problem. It doesn't matter what it meant in a different context decades ago. It has meant "a football team" for decades and there was no intent to offend anyone when it was named that. Is this supposed to be some reparations gesture ? The Left might need to stop and think about it. What if a future Right to Life supporting President felt that the name "Planned Parenthood" was offensive and his Patent and Trademark Office stripped away its trademark protections?

Red Mesa High school is located on the Navajo Indian Reservation.
Guess what the mascot and logo is? Yep, you guessed it.

Nearly all the student at the school are Native American.
Has anyone told them that they're being racists using that "slur"?

Oh, I think its the politicians who are offended. They want people to think they are sensitive to the plight of the native american and if that means weirding out at someone using the name Redskins, well, then, do it.

I believe the Washington Redskins is a wonderful name that is a tribute to the Native American. When I lived in NM, I dealt with a number of Indian Reservations...none of the people I spoke with were offended by the name...and being in Dallas country, that is saying a lot.
