That's last comment is bullshit, and you know it.

As for your first paragraph, our industrial powerhouse years, do you mean the Gilded Age or when profit not customer service became the be all and end all of CEO's?

Good paying jobs went by the by when the middle class went into the doldrums with the election of Reagan, and stagnated for the next three decades as the management class and above garnered benefits and the labor class lost both benefits and wage increases.

The manufacturing decline began in the 70s.

Well before Reagan was elected.

And there has been TWO, TWO term democratic presidents since then who could have addressed the Middle Class Doldrums.

The recent WTO Airbus ruling proves Trump's position on trade predators is correct.

If our "friends" are fucking US that badly, only a fool would think that China is being nicer.

We need new trade policy. Only Trump is interested in even trying.

Keep in mind even when you say that, manufacturing has only declined as a percent of GDP. How much we manufacture has continued to rise

Fair point, BUT, I want the jobs that our cheating trade "partners" have stolen from US.

That doesn't exist

Germany has twice the level of manufacturing jobs that we do.

Automation has made manufacturing more efficient, but it is still a big pile of jobs.

ANd many of them have been shipped, in one form or another overseas.

Did you catch the recent WTO airbus ruling? The EU has been supporting airbus illegally, gaining thousands of high paying manufacturing jobs, directly at the expense of American workers.

And they are not going to stop, despite the ruling.

The political buzzword, "high paying" jobs.

Our government drives manufacturing offshore with oppressive regulations and taxes. Let's stop doing that

Let's do both. We can walk and chew gum at the same time.

One good idea should not be the enemy of another good idea.

CHeck out this for an idea where our "friends" are coming from.

Trump Right on Trade Predators

"Richard Evans of British Aerospace explained: “Airbus is going to attack the Americans, including Boeing, until they bleed and scream.” And another executive said, “If Airbus has to give away planes, we will do it.”

When Europe’s taxpayers objected to the $26 billion in subsidies Airbus had gotten by 1990, German aerospace coordinator Erich Riedl was dismissive, “We don’t care about criticism from small-minded pencil-pushers.”

This is the voice of economic nationalism."

I guess it's just a buzzword if you already have a high paying job but a lot of people are hurting, and thereby, the economy. We can pull back on regulations AND make fair trade deals.

I've argued many times that conservatives are defined on what they oppose (gay marriage, taxes, change, the ERA, sex ed in school, abortion, free contraceptives, labor unions, the UN, democracy,
Affirmative Action/consent decrees, gun control, FEMA, the PPACA, Climate Change, a Government too large , (how large is too large for a nation of 300 + million?), public school teachers and other government employees - until they need them.

I've also posted the 14 points of Fascism, which, when applied to the statements / rhetoric of Trump are enlightening, and should IMO give pause to those opposed to an authoritarian federal government when considering a vote for the Republikan nominees. We don't need a Big Brother

Fourteen Defining Characteristics Of Fascism

Keep these sage comments i mind when in the voting booth:

Because I was not a Socialist.

Jobs are created by an overall healthy economy. Outsourcing makes us more efficient. Taking money out of the economy and giving it to an industry is no different than taking it out of the economy and giving it as welfare. It doesn't make us richer and it doesn't improve overall employment in the country.

My offer still stands, you still haven't taken me up on it. When you can explain how you, or the lawyers you parrot, know more about economics than economists do, let me know. So far, that offer hasn't met with your acceptance. You just keep parroting that higher prices for consumers and handicapping our businesses competing with international competition doesn't matter if it helps a few people keep economically inefficient jobs. I say bull shit to that

Hurting to the point of death.

Life Expectancy for White Americans Declines

"There have been signs for years that health and socioeconomic problems might be chipping away at improvements in longevity for parts of the U.S. population. In 2008, the IHME reported that life expectancy had stagnated or declined for about 4% of men and 19% of women in the U.S. in the 1980s and 1990s. "

"Life expectancy fell for the U.S. white population in 2014 and remained flat for all population groups combined, according to data released Wednesday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, showing how increases in death rates from suicides, drug overdoses and related causes are threatening an important measure of health and prosperity."

So our trade policies are killing people. Wow, I'd expect that one from a lib.

Do our trade policies cause acne too? I always suspected that one ...

BTW, the logical fallacy you are committing is called "begging the question." You're assuming the truth of your view that it's our trade policy that is costing jobs.

I dispute that, as does the field of economics. You still haven't explained BTW how you and the lawyers you worship know that the field of economics is wrong.

I want to take one of those economics for lawyers classes they apparently teach in law school that disproves the field of economics and tells lawyers that if you are selfish and greedy and scare people that those feriners are going to steal our jobs and you do it to win elections and amass power ... you're right, and the field of economics is wrong!

Sounds like an interesting class. Do you know if they offer that one in any night schools I could go?

I posted a link proving that the EU is "taking money out of the economy" and giving it to their air plane manufacturing industry.

The jobs they have taken from the US, with this strategy does not help US. It hurts US.

NOt because our air plane manufacturers or workers are inefficient or incompetent, but because our trade "partners" are cheating.

The workers who lost jobs are experiencing real hardship.

Instead of being a source of wealth flowing into their communities, they become part of the excess labor pool, driving DOWN wages and making the community poorer, because the money that SHOULD have gone to them, in a Free Market, instead went to Europe.

Our businesses can't compete because our competitors are cheating.

Oh, and the article I posted, if you read it, there is no expectation that the EU is going to stop, just because they got caught and it was proven in court.

They are going to "appeal". The expectation is that eventually, years down the road, that there will be a "settlement".

A settlement...

We don't need settlements. We need to stop being the world's bitch.

Presenting proof is the exact opposite of "begging the question".

Our businesses can't compete because our competitors are not listening to the "field of economics" and are crafting trade policy to get jobs for their people, at our expense, as they explicitly state, by cheating.

THe link between economic hardship and health issues is well documented. DO you need a link to believe that?

Yes, $3.8 trillion is more than enough when we're piling on $20 trillion more of debt. So what excuse do you have for that? Want a new program, what do you propose to cut?

Your hyperbole aside, on the change one, just so you know, you won. The country is left. You're the ones who oppose change now. You aren't the revolutionaries anymore, you're the establishment

Wrong again. Trump does not represent change, if that is what you are suggesting. Trump represents a return to the past, a reactionary response build on a foundation of hate and fear, in a word: Fascism.

Well, both parties are fascist, so that's not a distinction

Bullshit! RINO's are not, nor are establishment Democrats or Libertarians. it is only the Trump movement which advocates the anti democratic, anti media, anti immigrant, anti this and anti posture which deserves the title of fascism.

There is nothing "anti-democratic" about Trump or Trump supporters.

Being against high immigration is a valid policy position. Try to be less dishonest.

The military could be half the size it is. Most of the rest of the budget is in programs that support various members of our society who've either fallen on hard times or are too old to continue working. It didn't help that our increasingly laissez faire economy tanked and left a lot of people out in the cold. Perhaps we could tax the people who've benefitted from this shit sandwich.
