What goes around, comes around.

He had dual citizenship from birth, so he is also an American citizen. What is your point?

Obama took forever to release his birth certificate and when he did, it was shown to be a unprofessional copy.

More disturbing was his selective service registration, which is clearly a fake. Does he not have the originals? Why the obvious fakes?

This "dual citizenship" claim is dubious. His dad is Cuban, he's born in Canada, but his mom is American, so he's also American? Wha??? It makes no sense. He's Canadian. He doesn't have the proper paperwork either, from when his parents FINALLY got around to getting this supposedly "natural born" American kid to America four years later.

In the unlikely event that he does win, he will not be legitimate.

You know that you've made yourself just another predictable, hyper-partisan hack, right? You realize that you are just rdean lite at this point, right?

You know that you've failed to convince me that right wing wacko Cruz is eligible for the Presidency, right? You realize that you are just lashing out because you have no convincing evidence that he is eligible, right?

It's too funny. Years & years of egg-shaped, conservative bumpkins whining that you have to be born the in the US to be President, and now, suddenly and conveniently, its more nuanced than that. Conservatives are a joke. No wonder Mitt lost.

Dear REthuglickans, please select Cruz as your NEXT presidential candidate. It will be so much fun doing the "birther" thing with you rethugs. The Dems have been paying attention to your past arguments against Obama and are really looking forward to dragging these same arguments out and using them against you.

Won't it be great? Maybe you all can get a birth cert showing Cruz was really born in the USA. Like Obama did. Cause Obama really was born in the USA.

No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty-five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.

Gotta be born in the USA, methinks.

The exceptions were merely for those alive during the signing of the Constitution.

Now if Cruz was born in Canada in 1789, he is eligible to run for POTUS..otherwise I don't think so.
The constitution does not explain the meaning of natural born.

It appears the simplest definition of natural born is the correct one, a citizens who did not go through the naturalization process to become a citizen; that is, they are citizens because one or both both parents were US citizens regardless of where they were born or they were born in the US or US territory regardless of the citizenship status of the parents.

^ not half bad.

The question is NOT whether they are citizens...the question is whether or not they are eligible to become POTUS.

I believe that the framers of the constitution meant to insure that (with the exception of the people alive before our revolution) ONLY PEOPLE BORN IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA ARE ELIGBLE TO BE POTUS.

that is the RHETORICAL LOGIC of the sentence:

No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty-five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.[/SIZE]

And its the secondary part of the sentence that totally nails down that meaning, too.

Here's the THREE THINGSyou have to be to be POTUS

1) A citizen 2) born in the USA 3) who is at least 35 years old.

You have to be all THREE of those things to be POTUS

I have no idea if the SCOTUS agrees with me but if they do not?

Well shit, folks, then they're wrong, too

See how you can't even mention the subject without injecting some empty, partisan hackery? See how far you've gone? We don't have enough information at this point to know the details of his birth and whatever steps his parents took at that time, but his being born in Canada does not, in and of itself, disqualify him. That's what you call a "fact." Ok, now post some more empty, partisan nonsense. Go ahead.

If birth in the US is required, then a child of an American, born preterm while abroad would not be eligible and that would be truly ridiculous and I think the founders would agree that "natural born citizen" means a person who is entitled to U.S. citizenship "at birth".

It would have never gone on as long or as far as it did if the President had just showed his right from the get go rather than ignoring it for so long.

It was not the righties who started the claims that Obama was not a natural born citizen.

During the Democratic Party's 2008 presidential primaries, anonymous e-mails from supporters of Hillary Clinton surfaced that questioned Obama's citizenship in an attempt to revive Clinton's faltering primary election campaign. These and numerous other chain e-mails during the subsequent presidential election circulated false rumors about Obama's origin, religion and birth certificate.

I think during the campaign, birthers were considered a bunch of right wing loonies by Obama. Had the president at that time, supplied his birth certificate, it would not have been enough and would only have raised more questions and accusations. The end result would have been a distraction from the primary issues of the campaign, the economy and healthcare. Many of Obama's opponents were pushing him to supply his birth certificate, not to settle the controversy but rather to fuel it.
