What immigrant Moms must go through to reclaim their babies

only because the politicians have driven it, to that...

That is the very reason it is called the Third Rail of Politics...

The third rail of a nation's politics is a metaphor for any issue so controversial that it is "charged" and "untouchable" to the extent that any politician or public official who dares to broach the subject will invariably suffer politically.

We USED to all at least PRETEND we were for national borders and security. Democrats have abandoned almost all pretence.

your republican politicos are framing it that way, though untrue...

and certainly the democratic politicos are framing it as conservatives being heartless....

same ole same ole..... hasn't changed in 20 years with just a drop of ''compassionate conservatism'' in between with Bush 2.

Democrats think spending money on the wall across the entire southern border of the united states is a waste of money and time.... but that does not mean they do not want less border control and less border security....

They do believe in spending money repairing or recreating with better technology, walls that exist in the high traffic zones and expanding in to higher traffic areas...but spending the non existent money in the budget for a wall in the middle of a dessert or mountainous range where crossers are likely to die before reaching the US Border is a waste of money, when we have so many other things we need to do, to make our nation secure from threats, like our Electric Grids....

They also believe in spending more on border security officers.

Yes, some...just a handful, but not leadership, want to abolish the existing ice AND RECREATING A NEW replacement.... ICE replaced INS after 9/11 and was suppose to focus on terrorist, drug and gang illegal immigrant/entries/deportations....

And it has lost its purpose of its mission, i believe I read with only 250 out of the 350,000 arrested by them for deportation were gang or drug or violent crime related deportations.....

so, SOME critters want to REVISE IT or REPLACE it.....with the focus back on to our security and criminals threatening that security...

NOT abolish, with no replacement as the Cons are spinning.

we don't believe we should punish the DACA kids for what their parents did.... if they are upstanding, speak english, graduate from high school or college.... that's exactly the kind of immigrants we would want to import....isn't it? So let's keep them....if their noses are clean as a whistle....

This will make those with an empathy gene cringe (and Trumpkins proud I suppose). F-ing disgusting IMHO.

CHICAGO (AP) - When Lidia Karine Souza would call her 9-year-old son -- allowed just 20 minutes per week -- he would beg his mom though tears to do everything in her power to get him out of U.S. government custody and back to her.

The 27-year-old Brazilian mother, who is seeking asylum, has been trying with all her might.

She searched for weeks to find Diogo after the two were separated at the border in late May. When she was released June 9 from a Texas facility, she filled out nearly 40 pages of documents that U.S. officials told her were required to regain custody.

Then they told her that the rules had changed and that she needed any family members living with her in the United States to be fingerprinted and still more documents. This was not the safety she had sought for herself and her son. This was not the American dream.

"This ... is a nightmare," she said, sitting in a suburban Chicago hotel, still waiting to be reunited with Diogo, from whom she'd never spent more than a week apart before this.

On Tuesday, Souza's attorneys filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration to demand her son be immediately released. He has spent four weeks at a government-contracted shelter in Chicago, much of it alone in a room, quarantined with chicken pox. He spent his 9th birthday on Monday without his mom.

This nation as most others, have immigration policies which require anyone wanting in, to go to a border check point, whether they want asylum or not. The laws on the books regarding immigration, have been in place for years, well before the Trump administration and thus, people have absolutely no right to slip through our borders, even if they want asylum. If you're in here "illegally," you will eventually have a problem. If you tried to get into most other nations without going through proper channels, you would be arrested, even if claiming asylum.
As for "real" asylum seekers, they are supposed to go to the very next safe nation they come to, not travel through a half-dozen to get to one of her choice.
If you don't like the immigration laws that "Congress" has had in place, get your "resist Trump" politicians to actually sit down an help write an immigration law that both sides can live with, otherwise, stop complaining.

I occurs to me, that if mommy dearest would have applied legally for immigration, instead of dragging her children into her crimes, then this wouldn't be an issue. I am feeling NOT the pain. Child protective services take kids away from parents like this every day, and this if most others, for good reason. It's too bad people exist in the world like this, but it doesn't detract from ICE or immigration law enforcement one iota.

I don't have to read the rest of this thread. This was enough for me.
Should've thought of that before trying to sneak across our borders.
Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

And Refugees given asylum status, ARE NOT illegal immigrants....they are here legally, under the Law of the land
You know they're taking advantage of a loophole. We need to end that.
No. We don’t. Asylum is a legitimate need.
We can't give Asylum to ever person from a poor country. Our country isn't big enough and the world is too big.

Trump amnesty to cover 1.8 million Dreamers; triple Obama’s DACA
DO IT!
all talk, and no show!
Why? I hope he doesn't. It's destroying the character of the country

Yes. Like not ripping families apart unnecessarily.

Why all this empathy for immigration scofflaws? In this country, children are often taken away from abusive parents, citizens or illegal aliens. Regardless. And from some parents, permanently, others for the length of their sentences, but it's lot like they are being put in Auschwitz or anything, jeese, what drama queens. These kids are getting good care, maybe better than their parents gave.

Then tell your friends to stop selling their children to coyotes!

Stealing children from PARENTS, (not ms 13 gang members, not sex traffickers, but their gosh darn parents), who are seeking asylum here, with no plans to ever return these children to their parents, is inhumane and a disgusting practice, and it MUST STOP now....

It is a misdemeanor to cross the border outside of the gate, NOT A FELONY CRIME, and NO we do not lock up people for a crime, that does not require jail time as a penalty and we certainly do not take the kids of mothers who have committed a misdemeanor, we release them after they are charged with a misdemeanor in most ALL cases....so spare us the bull crud about, "you commit the crime you do the time".....

Our government is STEALING CHILDREN from their parents....GET THAT through your head.

this could have been going on for years, I don't know? Maybe even under Obama and Bush, and it has just been brought out because the Trump admin had 10 folded it? I dunno?

But it HAS TO STOP.

They can put ankle bracelet monitors on the parents, until they get their Refugee asylum hearing, their due process.... and be deported together if the asylum seeking hearing, does not go their way.
In this case they should have been quarantined together...........guess they didn't find the pox til he was put in another facility. 6 weeks......how long ago did the president do the Presidential order..............which changed this....................

Now for Congress to get off it's ass and do 2 major things. Get rid of the 20 days Flores Rule, and provide FUNDING for more FAMILY FACILITIES............

Where are those bills..................????????????????????????

Where are those bills..................????????????????????????

We need a comprehensive, Immigration Bill

and YOU need to ask your Do Nothing, Republican Congress and Senate leaders that question....
Tell yours to do the same..........Same asshats been up there for decades and haven't done jack squat. Like they are really going to fix it or really give a shit about it. LOL

Where is your side's famous bills...........yeah..more of the same and bitch at the other side.

They don't want it fixed and they don't give a damn about this issue except keeping us at each others throats.
yes, it sure seems that way... we are approaching the 20 year mark of congress saying they would do comprehensive, immigration reform!!!

compromise is necessary to get it done though, or it simply won't get done.... and maybe that is just what both sides want, nothing done!!!!????
Comprehensive immigration reform is newspeak for mass legalization. It's what Reagan thought he was getting when he got lied to.

No comprehensive immigration reform. None. Build the wall. Tax remittances to pay for it and have mass deportations.
