The Israelis fought the '48 war with weapons scavenged from junkyards, and weapons that no one else wanted.In 1948 the Arabs lost due to lack of equipment and training. The Zionist Hagana, paramilitary group, was much better equipped and trained. In 1967 the Israelis conducted a surprise attack and won that battle as well. However in 1973, we had a different situation. If it wasn't for the US airlifting thousands of tons of weapons, the Israelis would've lost and we would now have Palestine back on the map.
