Imo, Hillary's not electable, but neither is Trump. Someone has to win ... or not lose.

The electorate is angry. We haven't had wage growth. Telling them the truth - that it's not really free trade that screwed us but worldwide backloading of debt, and there's little demand - is not sufficient for them. It's not that the Chinese have a trade surplus, it's that their currency doesn't float freely. Hillary can't tell people that the effect of that is that the 1%, who don't care where goods are made, and for whom it makes no difference because they still own the means of production, or at least access to markets. So, Trump has some appeal, but his solutions are so simplistic and facile that he shouldn't be taken seriously.

If Hillary loses it will be because of her lack of courage and ability to talk directly to people. The answer to Trump is in Conscience of Liberal. And it's not a hard read.

But, the electorate seems willing to sell out intl relations and institutions that really have served us well since 1945. The reality is that in some event if Trump were elected, he'd be able to do very little to those relationships and institutions, even assuming he wanted to, and I don't think he really gives a tinkers' damn one way or another.
