If you’re arguing that they should be entirely segregated from everyone, sure that would result in less rape. But now that has nothing to do with trans and more to do with prison prprocedures.

Of course it has to do with being trans. I can understand a "true" trans prisoner would be concerned about being raped in a male prison and there are also legitimate concerns of females being raped by a trans prisoner. Both would increase the risk and number of rapes occurring.

So, full segregation for trans prisoners pre surgery. Integrated based on gender post surgery.

Sure. And trans prisoners would result in even *more* rapes. Drop a transman in a male prison, and they will almost certainly be raped. Drop a transwoman in a woman's prison, and the probability of rape increases. Both resulting in more rape.

I would also point to two pieces of info as evidence:

1) The uk moj released statistics that half of the 161 trans prisoners were in prison for sex related crimes. The crimes of these individuals were: Rape (actual and attempted),child porn, child sex (attempts and actual) and sex assaults.

2) there was a study a while ago that found trans women maintained a rate of violent crime comparable to the male control group.
