That's bullshit and you know it. If he ran, he ran for 5 or 10 seconds. He was told he didn't need to follow and stopped. Several minutes later he was assaulted, had his nose broken and was on his back being pummeled. For nearly a minute, he yelled for help. No one came.
Only after he had exhausted any other possibility, fearing for his life, he drew his weapon and fired.

Why? Because their themes apply to the 21st century in new, brilliant ways. Literate people, who think, and then apply their thinking and learning to common sense in making a living do quite well.
